I've heard really weird things about nonprofit organizations that take hair donations. The INTENT of donation is GREAT and is a really heartwarming, caring, wonderful decision.. but I've heard that some of the organizations (such as Locks of Love) have had questionable accounting practices and were investigated by the Better Business Bureau because nobody knew where some of the money or the hair went. Further, I haven't heard any justification for using real hair in a wig, rather than synthetic hair... mainly because synthetic hair is the recommended material for kids wigs (it's easier to care for)
These are just some things to think about. If you're set on donating your hair, and it makes you feel good, please do so. But please do some research before you donate.
Donating to charity is an FABULOUS thing to do. There are other great ways to donate: You can also donate blood, sweat/ volunteer time, money, and clothing.
I am planning on growing my short hair long to donate to a charity. Last time I cut my hair was a couple of months ago it was chin length. now it about my shoulders. I have thick curly hair, is triming it the best way to go so I can still grow it long to donated. I do regreted cutting it a couple months ago.I am planning on growing it a little longer then planned so I can still have long hair.
