Thank you for the advice sans. It's been a long time since I've done a full install on myself. I was weaning myself off of extensions for the past 8 months or so- yea I said weaning (LOL). It's like I tell my clients- it's so hard to go cold turkey! For the past few months I was only putting them on the sides and a row around my crown just to bring down the broken layers on the top of my head. I kept it the same length as my longest natural length so I only used about 2 ounces, 3 if I wanted it really thick. I did a full head this time to get my hair about 8" longer and a lot thicker. It felt awkward all over again to do all of the back bottom rows. I'll definitely give this method a try on my next install. Thanks for everyone’s input

Kristin, this is how I do the back of my head - it's the ONLY way I can do the back of my head - but I've found the best way is to get a crochet hook or a chop stick or something and really push the pre-tip down against the shrinkie while it's against the heat wand or it won't attach firmly enough, and while you are pulling them onto your hair with whatever you thead with, some of them will come loose. Bit of a pain. Other than that...time consuming but way easier, I think, when doing your own head.

Hi Kristin

Yes, brilliant idea isn't it? I read about it somewhere on the boards about a week ago and like a 'twat' I didn't save it so couldn't find it again to refer to. I have tried this today ( just practice ) on my training head and it works a treat. Your next install should be all the easier this way.

Did I read this right, you insert the pre-tip into the shrinkie and shrink it just enough to have them stick together? Then install them to your hair? What a brilliant idea! I wish I would have read this a week and a half ago, it would have made the install for the back of my head much easier

Hi Kateadreena

Thanks for the advice, I knew it was something like that....I just couldn't remember exactly how it was done. I'l go give that a try now. Thanks again.

oh yes, melt half the shrinkie to the pretipped hair, and then you only have to hold the strand of hair in place whilst shrinking the shrinie, makes back of head install MUCH easier

Hi

I'm sure that I saw a post on here about applying the shrinkie onto the pretip prior to installing but I can't find the post again. It said that if the shrinkie was stuck onto the pretip first, it would be easier to apply to the back of the head. I am interested in giving this a try but need to see that post again. I have searched but can't find it. Can anyone help? much appreciated.
