I just bought from Jasmin...mine should come in tomorrow, I'll let you know how they are...I also bought a hair halo...it is good quality, but has too much hair in the halo (so it sticks out at the top...I'm fixing that by cutting some off of the halo hair from the top -- and then I can make something from it:))...

Anyways, the halo is a bit off in color (but wont be bad once I get my highlights (got major roots going on right now)...I think the jasmin ones will be closer because they had a better selection of color...

I am now (thanks to your suggestions) thinking of starting with clip ons but am a bit worried if color will match. Also I wonder if I won't be lazy enough to not put in extensions every day. But so many of you say it's easy. I'm thinking of getting that already has clip ons in.

I've been browsing eBay and am considering this one.
http://stores.ebay.com/Jasmins-Dream-Weaves_Clip-In-Human- Hair-Extensions_W0QQssPageNameZVIStoreHeaderLinksQQtZkm?

Anyone dealt with them?

Someone also recomended wicked wares. Anyone else like them?

One more Q, when you have like a little more then shoulder lenght how can you make it so you can't see that lenght and only the longer one? Won't it show somehow??

I'm getting ready to buy the stuff to make a really nice set of clip-ins and
have a whole bunch of questions: My hair is fine, straight, and silky.
What would be the best kind of hair to buy? From what I've read, Boheme
(sp?) is the best. Should I get silky straight or some kind of wavy? I will
only be wanting the hair to be curled into a little bend when I wear my
styled hair with the clips. Should I be looking for hair with a skin weft to
be as invisible as possible? As a non-hair-professional, I know I'm
limited as to where I can purchase whatever I need. I'm not particular
about getting the best price -- I am more interested in getting the best
quality as well as good service. My other concern is how to match my
own hair. If purchasing a color ring is the best way to get a good match, I
don't mind the extra expense. The pictures Kristin posted above show
the clips sewn onto the hair wefts. Someone else mentioned using Liquid
Gold to attach them. Is one method better than the other?

Thanks again for all the helpful information. As soon as I acually DO
something with all I'm learning here I'll post some pictures of the results.

When you make clip ins, how many layers of weft do you put together?  I thought I read somewhere that you should sew 3 layers together and sew a clip to that?

If you're looking to save money clip-ins are the cheapest way to have extensions that I know of. A good set of clip-ins will be able to be constantly worn for many months. Just take them off while sleeping, swimming, showering etc.. Take good care of them and they'll last a long time. The best thing is that you can make your own for about $100-$200 depending on the length and the amount of hair you need along with which type of hair you use. I recommmend investing in some higher quality hair if you make your own. They'll last you a long time and stay looking great.

Here's an example of how they look when you sew them on yourself:

Your finished clips will look something like this:

Angel,

I too have worn a weave (it was the first method I tried) and the clips ins, which are essentially the same thing as a weave, is much more comfortable.  I also like the fact that I can take them off at night or when exercising or swimming.

I have 2 sets, one in the French Refined texture and the other in Silky Straight, so it's funny to rotate back and forth between them.

Thanks for your suggestions guys.

lucky chick - Can't find the extensions you were talking about.

The strand by strand I could never do myself. Have no patience to learn.

And I wonde if I have patience to do clip ins every day.

I have been leaning towards Weaving but I'm not sure.

I never had the weaving done. It didn't seem like something that would sit
well with me. Had similar concerns as you.

If you like the strand by strand but don't think you can afford it, I would
recommend reading up some and trying it yourself. I did that, and it
wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I love having the control of
being able to put them back in if they slide or fall out, and taking them
out or putting them in whenever I want.

Just something to think about.

Hi AngelDream,

I wore a weaves (corn row braid & sew), fusion or heat seals for 2 1/2 years and now I've switched to clip ins and I LOVE them!  I'd recommend clip ins over a weave.  Same result, much easier.  And easier on the follicles, I think.  Good place to start.  Much less $$$.  I like synth hair b/c it is lighter in weight.  www.hairuwear.com has the clip in set that I currently wear.  Kanakelon synth fiber.  Approx $55 -$75 depending on length.    Or you could but human hair and clips and make your own...

So, I've been thinking about extensions on and off for years. Now, I am thinking of clip-ins but I'm not sure.

Then I'm thinking weaving but don't know how I would fare with it. If it will itch or will I get warm and such. This is the site I was looking at (it's in swedish) and the price would be around 320 dollars. http://fakermaker.se/  If you go to "Bilder" you can see pics.

Then we have strand by strand and that would be like 1000 dollars. I can not afford that..

So, what to do?
