QuoteReplyTopic: Promoting YHS to salon Posted: December 01 2005 at 11:45pm
I can totally sympathize Kristin.I found out i had hyperthyroid about 3 years ago while I was pregnant with my first son. After he was born I had Radioactive Iodine. It completely nuked my thyroid. So now I'm extremely hypothyroid. And my weight has been an issue ever since.I have an extra 10 pounds that just wont budge no matter much I diet and excercise. And your dads right It usually runs in families. Most commonly in women.I know that thyroid disorders usually are pretty tame.It usually takes some kind of big hormone surge to make it come into full effect.Like in my case it was getting pregnant. And my cousins thyroid disorder came out after she got a depo provera birth control shot. Its good you caught it now though.Especially being hypo.If your replacement pill doesnt bring you where you need to be you'll get osteoporosis.Plus your chances of getting cancer of the thyroid are much higher than most people. And getting the dose right can be hard.I have never had the same dose longer than 4 months at a time.Even after 2 years I'm still trying to get it right. But I'm getting alot closer. And I totally understand how you feel. When you are hyper I can honestly say it makes you feel pretty good.I had alot of energy and could eat what I wanted. But being hypo makes you feel like crap. You'll feel extremely tired even after getting alot of sleep.Sorry to go on and on.But just wanted you to know your not alone.

OMG. Yes, all of that would have been very helpful information! Families are a weird breed.
What you said about your thyroid prob is exactly EXACTLY what happened to me this year, to a word. Unexplained and FAST weight gain, absolutely no results with diet&exercise that has worked all my life to this point. And same thing - hypothyroid.
Thing is, the thinking is that many if not most women have underactive thyroids and don't even know it. The range for 'normal' thyroid hormone is so huge as to be almost meaningless.
Good for you that you've got it handled and are on your way back to normal.
As far as the reduction goes, as I've said before, I had one when I was 30 and have never EVER been happier about doing anything as much as that. Best thing I ever did. You will be so happy.
I've always been a decent weight but I had a rapid weight gain starting around the fall of 2004. I was packing it on like a heavy weight! I wasn't eating or doing anything different that I knew of. It was really weird. I thought it was me so I cleared out the kitchen and restocked everything with organic fruits, veggies, chicken, and turkey. I went on a mad 1000 calorie or less diet including 3-5 work outs a week. I did this for a month and nothing changed!!! Instead of losing weight I just leveled off. At least I wasn't gaining during this time. Anywho, it was horrible. I ended up getting my very own insurance plan started up for this very reason, I knew something was wrong. I went in and talked with a family doctor and he suggested some blood tests. I took the tests and it came back that I have a hypo-thyroid. UGH! He put me on some 30mg thyroid tabs (that's exactly what the bottle says). I took these for a month and went back in for further testing. My thyroid went up a little but still not to what it should be. Now I'm on 60mg and everything is getting back to normal. It's taken 5 months and I still had to work for it. I'm still doing the healty diet but this time I'm actually seeing the results I should be seeing.
After I found out what was going on I told my Dad and he responded with "oh, it probably runs in our family. My mom had thyroid cancer." WTF?!?!?! Don't you think it would be valuable information to know that my paternal grandmother had cancer!?!? I asked my grandmother and she confirmed and added "I was your age when I found out and I had to have my thyroid removed." My family is crazy! How do you forget to tell someone that in 25 years?!?!
Now I've got to look out for that cancer and the ovarian cancer that my maternal grandmother died of.... thats the joys of genetics I guess
Anywho, I've always been top heavy but with the weight gain it got out of control. It's better now but I will still get the procedure done. I'll probably go to Dr Tohey in newport Beach his pictures were *beautiful* He's really expensive though so I'll be taking out a loan- it's worth it for me
Thank you BOE for passing my information along I'll arrange to send you some sample strands when they get in. What color are you again? 16 right?
Kristin, if the "procedure" you're describing is what I think it is, I've been wanting the same thing done for a few years. I can't ever seem to save up enough money for it though (I'm poor). Also, I've been trying everything to lose weight. What pills have you been taking that helped you drop 20 pounds? I 've been running and weight training 6 days a week, AND eat only fish/chicken/veggies, I haven't lost ANY weight, which is leading me to believe I have a thyroid problem. I'm thinking of going in for some testing because this is unbelievable. The amount of effort I put into trying to look good, I should be a perfect 10 by now. It's scary. Anyways, your hair looks amazing. I went to the salon today and showed them how to do freehand fusion. I let them practice on me. The manager of the salon is asian, and she's so funny. I had a few X-10 sticks that I gave them, and they used the YHS sticks on me. I looked at the hair they'd been using (which they said only lasted a few days to a few weeks) and it's pre-tipped with some kind of glue. You pull the clients strand through the loop (and the loop pulls out) and use the heat tool. I don't remember the brand they said it was, but they weren't happy at all with it. Anyways, they seemed to like the glue sticks I brought and were asking about the Bohyme. They said it felt really nice. I did go home and take out the strands they did though. Anyways, if they decide to keep experimenting with extensions, I'm pretty positive they'll be ordering from you.
It's a father-son team. The father does all my work and planned future work. They are low key - very nice office but not over the top fancy. He doesn't advertise, prices aren't rock bottom but not Bev Hills high, and like I said, he does plastic surgery on other doctors. Website doesn't have pictures in gallery but he has a lot at the office. If you want a flashy doctor, he's not it. But his work is fantastic.
Syrene: What's your doctors name? I'll definately look into as many referrals as I can especially for the type of procedure I need.
Tangles: Dr. Linder! I saw him on TV a couple years ago and I've remembered that name because I thought his work awesome. It was some MTV show where two girls wanted to be in Playboy. They already had their breast done but went back for lipo and a nose job. All the procedures he did looked great. I'm going to see if I schedule a day to go up to Beverly Hills and check out a few Doctors including him.
Back to hair *haha*: The new hair I put in is listed at 20" but it measures at 21.5" It should be in stock in 3-4 weeks *crosses fingers* I'll make a post for it when it comes in.
ok heres another dr to check out- dr linder- hes in beverly hills. 310 2754513 tell him Sand reffered you- his prices are up there but he is the best in BH
Bringing beauty, one head at a time...

Sorry Dr. Tavoussi didn't work out. I have to say that he did do a fantastic job on our ex-teachers assistant Diana. I got his name from her.
I have another referral for you and anyone else if interested. He did my nose in August and injects me with Restylane every 7 months or so. Nose: $4000. What I didn't know when I first found him is that he was named to a list compiled by other doctors as to their picks of the best doctors in the country.
Okay back to hair. Be sure to let us know when it's in and when we can order it. It looks long - is it 20" or longer than that? It's really beautiful. I hope the dark hair is just as lustrous.
Syren: Yeah, it's not Bohyme *GASP!* It's the first hair I've tried in 4 years that I've found comparable to Bohyme and I like it just as much. I'll see if I can take a few more pictures of it tonight.
Answer to 2nd question: As for my work I'm guessing we are referring back to the old subject topic which was titled "O/T and a bit personal" (for anyone who wants to look it up and know what we are talking about) I haven't gotten it done yet but I did go to Dr. Touvoussi for a consultation. He is so close to my house I can actually see his building from my front lawn. I got the creeps from his office though. For one, he didn't even do my consultation, he wasn't even there! His secratary/assistant did it. They told me they could do the full anchor scar for around $4500. It's a great price but less than 1/2 of every other consultation I went to. Just seems fishy to me. Some of his pictures were ok but I wasn't blown away. I need to be blown away for a procedure like this or I won't do it. I was planning on doing it in January now but I kind of spent my savings for it on this new line of hair I'm getting in. I still want to do it but I may wait till February or March. In June I found out I had a thyroid disorder which has caused a rapid weight gain causing everything to get bigger which is why I was dyeing to do it asap. I'm taking some corrective once a day pills and I've lost over 20 pounds so I'm almost back to my normal weight and they are a lot more manageable I still will get it done, it's just a matter of when. I'll keep you posted
Isn't that baby the cutest little thing you've ever seen? He's really going to hate me when he's older... here's another picture I took of him last week which I was planning to add somewhere on my site:
Yeah, kristin, you are absolutely beautiful! I need to buy more than just
hair from you!! Have you wrote any books on how you look like that?? That hair is beautiful though, really seems to hold up well and look silky
and healthy!! I know where I am buying my next set from!! Good work!
You girls look gorgeous! And your hair - jeez! Jessica Simpson should come to you and learn a few things! It looks bombshell beautiful. That hair is the new tipped hair you're getting in, not Bohyme?
And Kristin....did you, um, have anything else done besides your hair recently? Just wondering.
How excited you must be! Please let us know how everything works out tomorrow. Maybe they can even help you cut it so it blends even better. Just make sure they know how to cut extensions before you let them near your head with scissors, you don't want it to get messed up Tell them I've got a new line of hair expected in stock in about 4 weeks. I'll have the kera-tip and i-tip hair coming in. It's the same hair I installed on myself a month ago and it's still beautiful. I've only lost 2 of the shrinkie bonds and NONE of the Kera-tip ones with ZERO shedding I should take some more after photos of how my hair is holding up to share, I'll try to do it this week. Hmm... here's a few I've got handy taken over the past few days, obviously hair wasn't the focus of these pictures :
(below)Lounging around the house. My hair hadn't been washed in 3 days and the hair was curled with a curling iron right after the last wash. I love the way the curl holds. This picture was taken around 5pm yesterday and it had not been brushed since the morning so that should give you an idea as to how well this hair holds up. (btw, it's my girlfriends 9 week old baby- not mine )
Sorry I don't have any better pictures right now but I'll try to take some this week.
I'll send you a couple sample strands when the new hair gets in so you can check it out for yourself
For anyone who didn't see the pictures right after I installed this hair here they are (taken on November 4th):
So I was running around to every beauty supply shop today after work looking for some 18" hair that matches mine AND isn't Sensationell or some other waaaaaaay crappy brand. I didn't find any, so I'm going on my lunch break tomorrow to the next town to try and find something suitable. Anyways, I was in the last store of the night and there's a hair salon right next door. Turns out, one of my old friends works there who I haven't seen in a while. He comes over to the BSS and tells me to stop in when I'm done looking. So after finding out that the BSS didn't have any hair for me, I go over to the salon and start chatting. The salon manager was there and we all start talking about extensions. She mentions that they recently started doing extensions at their salon, but they use some system that's only staying in the client's hair for a few weeks. They showed me, and it's a strand of pretipped hair with a loop on it. You pull the clients strand of hair through the loop, and then use the heat wand (they have the Wimex one) to melt the glue. So they're asking me about how I do my extensions and I told them that I generally change them every 2 months (so I can dye my roots). So they were asking about the glue I use and so forth. Anyways, to make a long story a little less long, I'm going back tomorrow after work and I'm bringing my 2 leftover X-10 sticks, my new YHS sticks, and I told them I'd bring my couple of inches of leftover Bohyme weft just so they could check it out. They said we'd "play around and see what we can do". So I'm hoping that I can buy some hair tomorrow during my lunch break (keeping fingers crossed) and then they'll install my extensions after work (or at least the back, it would be nice to have someone else do it for a change since it takes me so long to do the the back of my own head). I'm pretty excited because I've never had anyone else do my extensions, and I'm sure they'll do a neater job in the back than I would. I'm pretty sure that I'll get home and add some more in the front to fine tune it, but it will be nice to have someone else do the back for a change. Anyways, I told them that yourhairshop.com is where I get the sticks, so maybe after they get to try freehand fusion tomorrow and work with the glue sticks, they might be Kristin's new customers. Maybe they'll like the Bohyme too even though we can't use it on me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll find some decent hair tomorrow on my lunch break, otherwise we'll have to postpone the whole thing. Anyways, I was going to do it myself, but I might as well let them do it since they want to try out this method. Wish us all luck and I'll let you all know how it turns out!!!
