You are in the early stages of getting was. They be there for a short time and then they vanish. But if you keep brushing and using a good method, they will stay and you don't even have to put pomade in your hair to see them.
Washing all the products out is a good too. It helps to keep your hair pores clean and unclogged so your hair can grow faster.

just know, i threw some pomade into my hair and started brushin for about 30 minutes. i had to do something fro 30 minutes and threw on a du rag. after i was done, i started brushing. what i see now is little waves on the sides, and some going every which way at the top. when i keep brushing, they go away, then i'll see the traces of som more. i'm guessing this is the first stage, but their not trained enough to stay. any helpful hints?
