When I know I'm going to put extensions in with any method, I shampoo with a clarifying shampoo, sometimes Neutrogena, sometimes Prell (if I recently colored), sometimes cheapy Suave clarifying.
I dilute shampoo with water in one of those plastic hair color bottles with the needle applicator tops, then put shampoo right on the roots and lather/rinse/repeat. Twice, but just the roots, and lightly condition the ends so as not to tangle. That makes my roots squeaky clean. Blow dry. Apply hair.

I used the Fructis sleek & shine shampoo too on my last install, but I've not used it on my current install and this one is holding up much better! And it's only sandwiched at the ends rather than all over like my last one. I do like how soft and smooth it made my hair feel though, and it smells lush!
I've been using a shampoo called 'Dream Hair radiant shine glossing shampoo, enriched with pearl and silk extracts' by Charles Worthington on this install, which really doesn't sound like a good reciple for glued extensions does it?! But it hasn't damaged the bonds 3 weeks in and makes my hair nice and soft and tangle free so I'm sticking with it! I've also only used leave-in conditioners this time which I think is making it last a lot longer.
Dunebug - how do you actually apply the LG bond sealer? Is it like a cream? Might give it a try if you think it helps.

Vinegar is good for clarifying hair with conditioner buildup.The fructis isnt neccesarily bad for your hair.You just need to clarify every once in a while so the cones dont out of control.

Keep us updated because I am thinking about ordering those strips, hoping that they'll stay in my head because nothing else ever does. Anyways, what shampoos are you girls using who get them to stay in for so long?
Sweet, that's exactly what I did with this other test strip that I put in last night. I cut the strip longer and used the LG bond sealer over top which you have to use a hairdryer on to set it, so I'm wondering if that helps too. This one feels pretty secure, we'll see tonight when I wash it though!
I will chuck the fructis right away and use an ordinary shampoo. It's so wierd though that that whole install fell out immediately when my test strip is still defiantly holding on in the back! It's like it's just there to taunt me! haha
I'm not giving up! I know I can make them work for me, I just have to figure out the right formula :)
Don't lose hope just yet chick. Its definitely not oily hair cos I purposely tested a client with the oiliest hair ever with these things and she went 5 weeks and could have easily gone more. I've had one of these things in the side of my head for a week and a half now and I've washed my hair three times and it hasn't budged. I think you have to be careful when they're wet, sometimes it feels like the edge of this strip lifts up but as soon as its dry it sort of reglues. I think the way to go is to slightly cut the ends of the strips longer than the weft you are installing so that the ends of the wefts are sandwiched if you know what I mean x
Its definitely the garnier fructis chick, my ex-boyfriend used to work in a lab and he says that there is an ingredient in that what actually coats your hair with like a rubbery substance xx
yeah I am going to try using a different shampoo, I just ordered some of the LG pre-bonding shampoo, but I still dont understand why all these ones slid right out, but the test strip at the back is still holding....
It's a mystery!

a lot of moisturizing shampoo's have silicones and stuff in them which will still make your hair slippery, Im assuming a "sleek and shine" shampoo would as well. I would use a pre-bonding or clairifying shampoo.
hmm. I dyed my roots the night before, I wonder if that had anything to do with it, that could have put a coating on my hair...I did that and then the following morning I washed it again etc and put the strips in right away... it wasn't conditioner because they came out with my shampoo before I even used conditioner.. I used garnier fructis sleek and shine...
I got the strips from shrinkies.net they are the blue and white kind..
I *know* I can make these work because I have that wretched test strip in the back that isn't budging! grr! so frustrating!

That's crazy, Dunebug. Just crazy. I can't believe they came out in the wash! You must have had something on your own hair, or gotten conditioner on the wet strips - something!
I've had mine in nearly a week, 5 washes, and still holding tight. I even took one out on the side tonight, washed it and my hair, reinstalled, and off I went.
My hair usually defeats every type of extension method, but so far these strips have outfoxed my hair. I wonder what the problem is with yours...where did you get your strips? Are they the blue and white?
I swear, my hair just repells extensions! I did a full install the day before yesterday with the strips, having had the test strip stay in the back of my head now for a week and half with no problems, and I just washed my hair tonight and the whole lot fell out. Yup, just slid right out in the shower.
I didn't do anything different, washed it, no conditioner, used a little bar soap to get it squeaky clean, dried it with the hair dryer and installed right away.
Every one of them.. gone. I'm sooo disappointed!
The *only* thing I did different was that I didn't put the LG bond sealer on after the install, so I guess I'll try another test strip using that.. :( Wish me luck.
