I HAVE BRAIDS IN MY HAIR RIGHT NOW. BUT, I'M TRYING TO GROW IT BEFORE I GET A RELAXER. SO, WILL MY HAIR BREAK OFF IF I RELAXER AS SOON AS I TAKE MY BRAIDS OUT? SHOULD I WAIT ATLEAST 2 WKS

Hey JenJen, congrats on your success... You can get braids but do not relax before putting them in and once you take the braids out wait about 2 weeks before relaxing as well so that your hair and scalp can 'get back to normal'. Also always deep condition before and after braids. HTH
Wow. It's only been 2 weeks since my last relaxer and I'm already having amazing growth. Thanks to everyone's amazing advice, my hair has never been happier. I'm still working on the breakage and shedding, but it's gone down a TON and I couldn't have done it without you all.
I'm planning to stretch my current relaxer for 16 weeks (God willing). But that will be around the time I go to Mexico. Would it be a good idea to get braids around 16 weeks and then take them out a few weeks later and get a relaxer? I remember reading relaxers and braids don't mix, but I don't remember if it's getting it before or after braids.
