You might want to try looking through the HairBoutique.com hair accessory pages.

Check out:
http://mp.hairboutique.com/category.asp?CtgID=116

We have the largest collection of hair accessories - bar none - on the entire web.  It we don't have it, it may not be easily available.  We carry Korean imports as well as French, Chinese, Japanese, US, Mexican.

If we don't have it in stock, we can usually order it.  You can always email me with questions.

Is it just wide enough to hold a ponytail? It might be a pony holder clip.

Arggh. My drawings must suck. No, I'm quite sure it's an asian type of design, at least originally.

What the cross section I drew does not reveal, is that it is about as wide as it is long, and that there are numerous teeth extending from the hinge, almost like a comb.

In reference to it looking like a "space ship", it looks more like a tie fighter from star wars or something wierd like that; not long and pointy.

It's not a particular brand, it's just a style of clip.

Anyhooo, maybe I'm not going about this in the right way. Thanks for your help!

Hey there... I'm trying to find a gift for my girlfriend. She likes the big hair clips that go on the back of her head to hold her hair back.

Most of them are of Korean manufacture.

Some of them are those "jaw clamps", very large, but her favorite ones look like a big spaceship about to take off from the back of her head.

Basically, it's a design that look almost like the have little wings, and there is only one set of long teeth that run crosswise (horizontal) to the axis.

In cross section, looks something like this:

 \    _____      /    <-----"wing"
   \ /  x x   \  /
      ______ O       <-----hinge w/ spring
         /
    teeth

The hair passes between the teeth & the main part of the clip (towards the viewer) where the two x's are. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Anybody know where I can find these, or what the correct name for them are.

Thanks in advance....
