If I put in any regular sized bonds I usually snip a little off the top but I usually cut my bonds in half before installing. You can still snip a little off the top if you want though just don't snip too much and weaken the bond
It's not as easy as it seems. Many people don't get all the hair saturated in the glue, and therefore have a lot of shedding problems.
Even when I thought I made sure that all the hair was covered with glue, I still got tons of shedding on several customers. It takes a lot of practice, in my experience.
That's my twin sister 'Iwanttobehot'! We're doing each other's extensions this weekend-yikes! We've both been successful with wefts (hers are sewn in (had them initially sewn in about 6 months ago), mine are clip-in (been wearing the non-permanent way for over 2 years), which don't damage our natural hair at all. Sis is going to do fusion on the sides and front of my hair. We are going to follow the example from her 20yr veteran extensionist: 1.Cut extension hair off a weft. 2. Dip tip of hair in hot pot (with hot keratin). 3. Attach to our natural hair. 4. Use extension wand to get a good bond set. 5. Roll the bond until solid.
We considered buying pre-tips, but her professional fusion extensions are virtually undetectable because of the very short bond length. Are there pretips that have a shorter bond base?
