"I keep forgetting its on my head, so I go to brush my hair from the roots...whoops!"

If you have a sally's around, go and get a Looper Brush.  Then you can brush from the roots to the tips without ripping your extensions out.  If you don't have a sally's, I think either Shrinkies site or Kristen's site sells them for about 10bucks.  I think I paid around 7 for the one I got at Sally's.

I'll have to try the Remi hair, I have some indian hair in right now that I like, it has some split ends and the wefts do shed quite a bit, and I also bought some Lush hair so the remi is next on my list!!

I am hooked also, I can't believe I went so long without long, full wonderful hair that doesn't break the bank!!!

LOL...I dont really know anything about it either...

just what I learned on here...I'm all about if I'm gonna get something, I'd rather get the best, cause it always seems to be a much better value in the long run...and especially with extensions, I dont want to be obvious...anyways...

Nakedeye-its not glue...its  a very not-messy tape...you are taping them to your head...it really is as easy as everyone has been sayin g(I didn't think it would be either, and I was very pleasantly surprised:))...anyways...I used the shrinkies residue spray to get the two out that I had made mistakes with...I sprayed it directly on the protac tape...and it is definitely made of a lot of oils, felt really oily...put a finger on one side of the weft, and one on the the other, and rubbed for about a minute all over the tape...could feel the tape getting very sliippery...and then pulled gently on the weft...a few hairs at the very corner of the tape hadn't unstuck...so I ended up pulling out a total of about 5-10 of my own hairs...which isnt bad at all...and if I'd been a bit more patient, I wouldnt have pulled out any of my own hair...

gsmilie-LOL...yea, I learned very quickly that you have to account for the inch or so on either side where the tape is...might need to redo the bottom one if it starts to bug me...

The hair I used was the elite Remi from shrinkies.com...this stuff:

http://www.shrinkies.net/elite.htm

you've got to try it...its so nice!!...and if it actually can last a year (with reinstalling), its a great value...I still cant stop touching it...so thick and smooth...no knots so far, and no shedding at all...the only thing is that I keep forgetting its on my head, so I go to brush my hair from the roots...whoops!

PS-I just ordered the color ring (I recommend you doing that if you want a perfect match, the computer screen isnt the best for color)...I could definitely see myself doing this consistently...I'm hooked!!

Looks awesome!!!  I'm glad it was such a breeze for you.  I also put the first row too close the hairline and had to remove it the next day because it was showing and pulling a little.

What hair did you order?  I can't remember.

wow. I am considering this method now. I've heard so many great things,
and I would be nice to just have a few wefts in with my other hair. Explain
to me how you remove these. I'm scared of glue, haha, is it really simple?
And what hair do you buy for the wefts? I've only ever bought pretipped
hair, so I feel lost when it comes to anything about wefts! Thanks for
sharing all this, they look so great!

No, the tape is water proof... and strong...I took two wefts out because I installed them really wrong (and I was kinda curious to see it taking them out would be hard to do - which it wasnt)...the rest have been in the whole time...washed it just like it was my normal hair...but I did blow dry after my shower...from what I understand, they can hold up for six weeks...

Considering that it took a total of about 30 minutes to install (I installed the blond in back tonight, took about 3 minutes)...and no one (not even my husband - or the 180 9th graders I teach every day(who seem to notice everything:)) have even guessed that I did it...I'm in love with this method...and the hair is just absolutely incredible...I keep touching my hair, I cant believe how soft and thick it is...its the hair I've always wished I had:)

And, after the six weeks, I can reuse the hair (I think for up to a year or two - so this is pretty cheap - my first order 4 oz. of the best quality hair wefts and the protac strips was less than $200 - and with about $15 more of the pro tack tape...I could have full installs for the next year or two for less than $200, very cool:))...and even now...I still have about half the pro tack tape left...

FINALLY got the pics:)

Ok...so, I had put the blond on the bottom, and it looked weird cause it was brown on the top...so yesterday, before I took a shower, I tried taking the blond and brown out from the side...took 2 minutes, sprayed the shrinkies residue remover in, rubbed it around a bit, got gummy, and pulled lightly...came right out no problem (kinda greasy feeling), then took the tape off the weft...washed it...can reuse...in total...took about 5 or so hairs out...I was worried about that (got thin hair anyways - don't want to lose more), so cool

So, after the shower (wefts are so stable with that pro tack stuff, I have no worries that they will fall out), I put the brown on bottom, and blond on top...I haven't been highlighting my hair for winter, so it just looked like natural highlights that get light towards the ends...

pics are...this is it from the side...I just put the blond in the front (you can tell), I'm gonna put some in the back over the brown as well tomorrow night, so the blond at the bottom will so all around...

This is the blond directly under the hair...it is definitely not the color of my actual hair, but even still, it blends really well...(i dont put it so close to the hairline, just wanted you to see it up close with almost no hair on top)...

This is another of the blond wefts close up...even with my thin hair, it really blends well (I could remove the top sticky tape portion I think for better blending, those things arent going anywhere)...

ponytail...no problem at all...was wearing one all day, cant get over how thick it is...and wow do I ever need to clean my mirror!

Last, this was my biggest messup...the first weft I installed...forgot to account for the width of the tape, so it sticks out a little at the side...if you look at the blond above my ear, thats from the weft, not an actual highlight...

took 20 minutes the first day, and 10 minutes yesterday...and I think they should hold for a while...love it

The end

I can't wait to try the pro-tac.  My LG wefts are just slipping off my head after only a week.  I don't think I used nearly enough glue (only about 1/4th of a 1/2 ounce bottle), and I didn't sandwich the wefts, either.  I'm hoping the pro-tac will be easier and will last longer.

I am so glad you like the pro-tac, it is such a breeze!!

I can't wait to try Amm's remy, I have some of the lush and that is wonderful, so if the remy is even better, I would be in hair heaven!!

On normal wefts the short hairs at the top are from being folded over when they make the wefts.  They are usually called the "beard" and are usually a royal pain in the a&&, because is you use LG or sew the tracks in, the beard tends to poke you in the head.  Amm said that her new wefts would be made with no beard, so that is great to hear they really are!!

Can't wait to see some pics!!

Wow, can't wait to see the pics! I'm so happy to hear about another
positive DIY experience with the strips!!! Your excitement in contagious; I
cannot wait for my next install, which will be, of course, with the Pro Tac/
Flex strips!

So the remi you got, is it the Elite from Amm? I have the Elite color ring,
but I wish the wefts came in longer lengths than 18", and were in silky
straight. But even these little color samples of the Elite, they're like a
tease, they are sooooo smooth and silky. It's my dream hair to buy when
I win the lottery.

My hair's ashy too.... which color #'s did you get?

So, after getting back from vacation, all I could think about was getting my hair...ha!  Went to go get it yesterday, and of course, the post office wasn't open...so, had to go back today to finally get it...and there was my shrinkies package...

First thoughts...

1. Wish I'd gotten the hair ring (I'm very impatient)...brown was a bit to red for my ashy hair...blond was too blond for my winter hair (though I think it will be great for my "summer hair" when I go more blond)...

2. Oh my gosh this hair is smooth...

3. Very different wefts from the ones I got from ebay...much better quality and here's why (besides the fact that they are actually silky silky smooth)...at the top of the weft, there are no broken pieces at the top of the weft, whereas at the top of my ebay hair, about half of the strands are broken, and the texture in comparison is very dry...this also allows this new hair to be just as thick for extensions but not have such a heavy weft...

So, needless to say, now I'm excited...

I quickly took a shower, and washed my hair and blew it dry...then I started the install...since I was impatient and in the bathroom at the time, I pretty much went from memory instead of following directions specifically...but, I'd obsessed about gsmilies and amms directions while waiting to install...so I was fine...it really is that easy...

BTW, I'm not extending for now, just trying to thicken...though I'm probably going to grow my own hair some...which I'd never have done before these because it looks horribly thin and ragged when long...

my first install (at the back, about a 4" strip across one inch above my lower hairline - slightly curved)...I sectioned my hair, cut the strip, took off the blue part of the protack strip, sandwiched the hair onto the strip - then took off one of the white pieces, stuck the hair to the hair to mine, then put my hair over it...took about 5 minutes...

Immediately, I noticed that the hair was so light...it felt like there was absolutely nothing added into my hair...in comparison, I felt the clip ins were so bulky..

Secondly, I noticed that it felt incredibly secure...like I said, felt just like my real hair...even now, even though its only been an hour, I feel like I dont have anything in (whereas the clip ins, I ALWAYS knew they were there)

Originally, I was only going to install that one piece, but it felt so awesome...I had to install more...

I did two on the side under my part (maybe two inches of hair eachand I did them in a curved arc)...since the brown is not exactly the same color as my hair, but looked perfect in, for one of these I tried out the blond...it is too light...but I kept it...looks kinda funky:)

and one on the other side...brown:)

Ok, I'm estatic, I cant feel them, AT ALL!!

so, now I try to cut them to my hair length...thats a lot harder, because my own hair is NOT in this condition, it kind frizzes and now  I have this gorgeous unfrizzy hair in there...I still need to work on that blending thing, and order the hair ring, but other than that, I'm completely set...

This stuff is incredible...I think I'm going to add more just because it feels so incredible...I cant believe the difference in quality between the other stuff that I got...so far...I love this pro tac...in total, it took me 20 minutes, and thats only because I was trying to cut it to my length...

Thanks guys...will get pics when I'm not so tired...going back to work after two weeks is tiring....
