QuoteReplyTopic: Using a ClosurePiece with bonding? Posted: February 13 2006 at 7:57pm
It is great that they are doing breathable skin-part hairpieces. Truly the
only thing I hate about wearing my monofilament wigs is that plastic cap
on the top. I love that I can part my hair any way and it looks totally
natural, but that danged piece of plastic is so hot! I'm experiencing a
time of life when (cough cough!) I find myself suddenly warm from time
to time and that piece of plastic right on top of my head can really make
me sweat.

I personally am opting for the closure from Extensions Plus. I went to the store to see these in person, and a customer (who was in with her mom) overheard me talk about them and was gracious enough to show me hers (And I do mean SHOW me the darn thing!) She allowed me to see how it was installed, and showed me how she could part her hair anywhere along the scalp portion. The scalp portion was made of skin colored silk fabric. It looked VERY natural, and while her weave was almost ready for a re-do (almost 3 months old), the closure looked flat, and honestly until she turned around to "volunteer" for me, I would have NEVER know she had this closure in.
For me the key elements in a quality closure are:
High quality remy hair
You can part the hair wherever you want along the scalp section (no permanent parts!)
No latex or polyeurathane in the scalp section (scalp section must be of a "breathable" material)
In my research I found a LOT of places that sell closures and even closures with Remy hair. However based on my own personal standards, I have only found THREE (possibly five.. I gotta do some more research first..) sources for weave closures that meet my standards for a quality closure..
Extensions Plus
Sultry Hair
London Hair Company (Weavemasters)
The fourth place I am checking out pretty heavily for quality closures is Remy Hair Today. Camille (owner) is working on adding quality weave closures to her line of human hair products. I am keeping my eye on this vendor because she appears to offer quality products at reasonable prices.
The fifth place I'm also checking is Giovanni and Sons (The Culver City, CA location NOT the Van Nuys, CA location). I will be visting their shop soon to see what's what.. But like Extensions Plus, she carry's the breathable monofilament closures in stock (2x3). However, you can also order a custom closure (4x4). Possible downside on the custom closures??? It can take up to 10 weeks to receive your closure. But their prices were reasonable, and (like EP) they offer a service to add hair to their closures in the event it requires replacement hair. (no hair or weave closure is completely shed free, but with good care, a good closure can last a year or more..)

I don't know about bonding it with glue. But if you decured it by braiding yor hair underneath and then sewing it in. I wear my top closure hairpiece that way. I bought mine from Sultryhair.com and I LOVE it. It is real human hair, so it does not look fake on me. I wonder if my extensionist could do that next time instead of the method she used. Do you think that piece could be sewn in? I am seriously considering purchasing it and taking it with me next month when she re-does them.
It just might work. A closure piece is nothing more than a small hair piece. I bond on hair pieces on some of my customers with hair piece adhesive like "No Tape" or "Ultra Hold" or "Max Grafting Adhesive"
On Extreme Makover once , a women who had female pattern baldness, had only a closure piece bonded it with a "special adhesive" (that for shure was just bonding glue), and it look amazing!
So do you think it will work?
Btw i have real short hair so it would not stick out much O.o
