frantic: Like Sherrie said, the purple shampoos work pretty good but can make your hair look like it has patches of violet if not evenly applied. What I recommend is this:

It's a mousse that you can get in quite a few shades including a light violet. Just finger it through your hair when it's wet and then dry and style as usual- no need to rinse it out. I find it alot more consistant than the violet shampoos. I'm all about getting my hair as light as possible:

frantic, I think my hair is a little more golden. I use mostly #613 and now and then I use some #22 and sometimes a combo. Right now I have Bohyme #613 and #24 (not much difference) Most all #613's Ive used match my hair quit well.

The #613 Wawa thermal fiber was the only hair that I have ever found that was too light for my hair and I had to blend some 613/27 to add as lowlights to add some gold tone to it.

Heres the Wawa thread from when I did that install. There is a complete review on the Wawa. http://www.hairboutique.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=34223& amp;KW=Wawa+install&PN=0&TPN=1

By the way....all of my pictures look more yellow than they really are...I havent figured out how to control the lighting and get rid of the yellow cast. I always get a yellowy cast when I take pictures in my bathroom lighting. On the third page there is a picture that the color looks more accurate.

thanks a lot sherrie and tangles...

hmm now i see why they call 613 that name, i always thought it was weird to have all these numbers in the single digits and teens  and then all of a sudden go to six hundred and thirteen..

sherrie.. i have a question for you, what color/kind of hair do you use.. ? from your picture your hair looks like the color i need.. a more ashy and not as yellowy blonde.. (p.s. it looks good by the way) oh.. and just outta curiousity what method do you use?

frantic, the monofiber like Plastikhaar, ProHair or Dome and Thermal fiber like American Dream, Wawa, Hot Stuff Fusion or OPI have all had pretty good reviews. The main thing with synthetics is the care routines are very different from human hair. Both type of synthetics can be styled.

The monofiber comes in several different curl patterns and will hold its wave for awhile then needs 'reset' with hot rollers. There are a ton of posts on the Plastikhaar in the archives.

The thermal fibers mostly come in straight, and straight seems to be the best quality and can withstand heat from curling irons and blowdryers, and hold the curl until you straighten it. I wore the thermal fiber for awhile and that was the main thing I liked about it, it cut my styling time to a fraction of the normal time since I didnt need to curl it everyday!

the elite hair on shrinkies the 614 is the same as the 613- the reason the company labeled it 614 is cause they have a blended color called 6/13 the 6/13 is a blend of color 6 and color 13

I think you'll have a hard time finding anything lighter than #613 in human hair. Bohyme #613 is very light to me. I used it for a friend of mine that has dark hair that is bleached up to a near platinum...and I used the clairol shimmer lights on the extension hair and it was a perfect match, she only had to use the purple shampoo a couple of times a week to keep the extensions toned.

Im not sure about the elite hair #614 or #618

If your interested in synthetics...most synthetic #613's are very very light.

ive tried the purple color imparting shampoos and also use a foam purple imparting moussey thing.. but the color kinda fades after a little bit and i would still like a more white ashy blonde.. do any of the 613 users know from their hair extension experience which brands of hair carry the lightest 613?

i know shrinkies.net's elite hair has a 614 or 618.. does the higher the number mean the lighter the hair?

thanks ladies!!

I use a mixture of 613 and 22. The 22 has a cooler look.  I don't use just a straight 613.  The girl above, I use Logics 12V double 40 to lift her.  She had previously bleached her hair and had alot of damage.  The highlift blondes are not great for your hair but is much better that kaleidocolors all over. You could also use a 22/24 mix that may also be an option.

Ive used Clairol shimmer lights (purple shampoo) on #613 extensions many times and it tones out the gold very well, and leaves it looking quite platinum. You can get it at Sally's or most beauty supply stores.

I wasnt aware that there were so many different brands of purple shampoos! I think Ive only heard of the Clairol or Artec before now!

trying to find more of a platinum? the only place i found was in china and u have to order min 1,000 pieces!

what u could do is this- they sell a purple shampoo made my KMS or Matrix, go and buy yourself a small small bottle. that one or two strands only- shampoo with it and let it sit on for a few mins, rinse and see what it does, if it turns it purple after its rinsed, or grey- dont use it again, if it made it more blonde without any gold , then wash your hair with it- there is also an new shampoo line for blondes called Glam by redken, i started using it on my own hair and it hasnt made my extensions purple or grey.

i am a natural level 2 and i am blonde so this shampoo cond is nice,

oh there is also a conditioner by matrix its purple- not sure of the name-

hey if your near my salon, come on over, i will help ya figure out what to use.ok so to wrap it up for u go to either a salon or professional bueaty salon-

look for

matrix- purple conditioner

redken glam shampoo and cond for blondes- get the one that is purple cond for pale blondes not gold tones

kms- purple shampoo

matrix-biolage- purple shampoo

where ever u get it, ask them if u do not like it can u return it. most good salons let u, we do so i know its possible. if it doesnt work for u, return or exchange it.

hope this helps

smshands i have a question for you... or anyone else if they have any info.. you said that outre hair is the only hair you know that matches highlift blondes.. so is it more blonde/white than the typical 613?

i have now tried Lush 613, and D-lux 613 and another brand of remy grade hair from shrinkies.net in a 613 and i although their quality was great all of them were a lil too yellowy / goldy for my hair.. im looking for a whiter more ashy blonde.. anyone know where i can get some?

thanks guys!

the results and life of your extensions depends on your after care and the hair u  install and also the care you take in installing.

i only reccommend, use and send ALL my extension clients home with a gift of professional products. my feeling is this- you spend a good amount of money to get your hair installed, why would you be cheap and use over the counter products on this hair? i have encouraged many to switch to pro. products AFTER they mess up their own extensions and the proof is there.

you advice on after care is good.

i reccommend only-

pureology and biolage products, those are the most extension user friendly-

stay away from fake "same as" brands. no such thing, they are just trying to fool the people that its the same. poor marketing stratigies.

I have used this on two of my friends so far.  I pretipped the hair and applied with shrinkies.  This is the first hair that has actually matched bleached or high lift blondes.

Both have had good things to say about it.  Do you think with most hair it is how you care for it?  I have told them to separate the bonds daily, wash every other day, use leave-in spray conditioner, loosely braid the hair before bed, and blow dry on cool to medium heat.

The first girl I did, works in a salon with a girl that uses MEGA HAIR and charges $1800 for an install. She looked at the mega hair and could not tell a difference.

The cost for blonde tones are $36.99 for 4oz 20" hair.  and $32.99 for darker colors.

Before LOTS of Damage!

After.  This hair has not been cut or blended yet.

These are my shrinkie bonds!

Outre is human.  I have it in my head right now.  As far as beauty supply store brands go, Outre has been one of the better brands I've tried.   Carla, I'm in Virginia also.

I Had a similar experience with Carla from VA.  I used the Outre remi velvet and it was better than the Outre gold.  However , nothing compares to real human hair to me.  I now use Indian hair and I will never go back.

I had it before and once the silicone coating wore off after a couple of washes, it was a horrible tangled mess for me.  I had to throw the hair away.  But the Outre Velvet Remi has worked out well, it just costs a bit more.  Its supposed to have the hairs going in the same direction so that it doesn't tangle up.
