Hi,

skibumps, to answer your questions SoCapUSA and Great Lengths are competitors. With us, 1500 is the average cost for length and volume. 2000 is definitely for length and massive volume-not meant for everyone. There's also a formulation-believe it or not-that we use to determine how many grafts per head. Clients are also charged per graft, not a flat rate fee.

Maintenance care program is a form that educates my clients who signs and initials stating that they will take care of the extensions in the proper manner. If not, then there is a minimal charge of $1/min. for detangling or removing. Nothing is hidden about the service and our thorough consultation insures this. If the client takes care of the masterpiece, we appreciate this by a maintenance reconditioning and styling out their for no charge in the check-up appointments.

And definitely, there is a clarifying pre-treatment of the hair-it's the only way to ensure long-lasting bonds. At our salon we also utilize the complete SoCapUSA system, nothing is mixed and matched. If you would like to know more about an extensionist in your area call me at 1-888-460-3031.

Quality of the hair, Precision in the attachments, Care and Accuracy in the maintenance as well as customer service is the reason for the charge. This makes for happy paying clients and we also keep our reputation.

Are socaps GL extensions?  I'm confused.  My GL extensions cost me $1500 for only 5 bundles,--gave me length, but absolutely no volume--and I'm in Denver, which is nowhere near close to being "high fashion" for hair like NY.

DFWStylist----when you say you incorporate a maintenance program in the cost, do you do the maintenance as part of the $1500-2000?  Or do you charge a reduced rate for maintenance?  Also, just out of curiosity, do you prep your clients' hair when they get extensions and is that included in the cost?

Welcome Jade

I'm also a newbie to this forum and recognize your "want hair?" logo.

Yes, that is SoCapUSA Hair Extensions. On the note of advertising, there is that regulation. But I can back you up on the quality. Cost? In Texas or should I say at our salon, the charge is 1500-2000 for full lengthening. It can also start at $20 for hilites, accents, volume, and even haircutting correction. F.Y.I., when asking for such an amount, I also incorporate an extensive consultation with a maintenance care program as well as a release form. You can't sell a BMW without explaining its performance. Check out the Q & A in my site www.TheArtofHairDFW.com

My clients thereafter don't question or deny me on cost. Also, when I was the rookie extensionist, I was able to get more practice when all I charged the volunteers was the cost of the hair. It didn't take much longer before I was able to charge full price. Ever so often we may run promotions and clients knew this was a great opportunity when they knew our reputation. Poor Jade! I do believe your NY prices only because I personally know a handful of extensionists up there. Don't let this get you down, Keep your head up and wear yours proud when you ask "want hair?"

BTW...welcome to the forum and your baptism by fire!

With 2 years of experience as a professional doing extensions you must have a lot of knowledge and tips.  I hope that you have a pleasant experience from here on out and will find it a great place to share your own experiences as well as benefit from the exchange of information of the professionals and non-professional hair extension enthusiasts on this forum.

Regardless of why you are offering this "sale", you attempted to solicite clients by offering a special payment option 50% cash and 50% use of their likeness in exchange for a service - that constitutes advertising.  I hope you can see that now.

Sorry you feel jumped upon, but rules is rules!

I dont t hink I'm being misleading.

Any salong in my area charges anywhere from $2000 to $3000 for fusion extensions, feel free to do the homework.

Ive been doing fusion extensions for two years, its pretty safe to say im far from an amatuer.  Im not advertesing, Im just offering a service thats usually a lot more $$, simply because i KNOW 3grand is alot of money!!!

The salon I work from will not allow me to use my portfolio on my own personal website.
Im not being misleading, I welcome anyone to research extension prices in New York City.  I know, because, sadly, thats how much we charge.

And youre right, this forum is a community, or so i thought, but apparentaly everyone jumps at the chance to gangup on someone.

"taking advantage of people"....Ive never been more insulted in my whole life!!!

Sorry for the "Ad"

Have a great day

This person also ignored our no advertising policy

I have issues with that.  We're a community here, we share ideas and experiences, advice and techniques.  A person can advertise anywhere, but to come into a forum like this, that the good people who come here have worked so hard for, just to advertise... well that just really makes my butt itch.  ESPECIALLY when we encourage education, and saying extensions "usually cost between 2 - 3 thousand" is extremely misleading, and this person to me is just looking for people to take advantage of.  We have some lovely extensionests on this site, who help keep it going by educating not only their clients, but the rest of us, and with all their experience and expertise, they don't mislead by making people THINK they're getting a deal when they're getting ripped off.

Magic beans, anyone?

Yeah i have to second Kalika. Most people arent going to be eager to pay that much to someone just getting started, especially when its supposed to be a deal.

Next time you do a clients hair, why not ask their permission to take their picture for your website. Most people would feel flattered. And for people who are a bit more skittish try seeing if they'll do it if you block out their face.
