wow. sorry to hear about that girl! was your hair damaged or something? Why did she end up cutting so much?
I would suggest a braid regimen to help you grow your hair back out. No micros--just medium sized (pencil sized) braids. Maybe your nanna can help you with those- or an experienced braider. $35 will get you braided in some areas of the country- but in others it will get you half a head If you opt for cornrows, they'll be cheaper, but will need to be redone every 2-3 weeks for freshness.
Don't worry girl, your hair will grow right back with proper care. I had to deal with the same things when I was your age and I'm 21 now! I've only recently found the keys to growing my hair out relaxed. It takes alot more work to maintain it, but it can be done.Just make sure you are washing and deep conditioning it regularly (at least once a week) and using your moisturizers daily. Waterbased ones are best for relaxed hair, with a light coating of a natural oil to seal in the moisture. Try to avoid "moisturizers" that contain mineral oil and petrolatum because they'll work against you moisture wise and lead to dryness over time. Stay away from the blowdryers and other heat b/c that will really do a number on your hair. That is very important- heat kills relaxed hair.
35.00 is enough for braids only if you plan on doing it yourself or having a friend doing it in return for you doing hers. Otherwise, 35.00 is enough to buy products for natural hair.
(the cost of products for natural hair isn't any more expensive than products for relaxed hair.)
Micros pull the hair more, take much longer to do, and are more likely to pull your hair out if it's pulled.

Poor Baby! I know it can seem like a disaster to lose so much hair! You could try doing a twist-out or a straw set to give you cute little curls or waves, then use a satin headband to push it back off your face, or maybe slick it back with something like shea butter and put cute sparkly clips on the sides. I found some ideas and there are instructions for twistout and straw sets on www.motowngirl.com. Remember... don't give up, it will grow!!
look at www.adaru.com -flat twist out hairstyle by adaru and see if you like the look.

I agree with Renata - Keep nana away from your hair and let it grow for a while. I'm assuming that as a teen that you don't have much money to go to a salon to get it fixed up or buy a curling iron especially for short hair (they market it for men I think?)

HOWEVER, DON'T EVER ALLOW HER TO DO YOUR HAIR AT ALL AGAIN!! Not a trim, not a curl, not a relax, NOTHING. If it hurts her feelings, just keep in mind that it's your hair to do what you want with it, and you have to live with it, not her.
I would personally just let it grow out natural and learn to love and style it natural until it's longer to do other things to. Learn to do cornrows (which can be let out and make it really crinkly-curly and is real cute). As it gets longer, you can do twists, twist-outs, afros with a headband, braids (NEVER MICROS!). Natural hair is more versatile than people think. You can even have sleepovers on the weekends with your friends where you do each other's hair.
I'm not saying you should go natural if you don't want. BUT that's an option that you should consider if your only other alternative is having your nanna do your hair.
So (unless you know how to relax and trim yourself, or unless you have the money for a stylist) your options so far seem to be:
1. Let nanna do your hair (and she will do it how SHE wants).
2. Let it grow out and do it yourself (which will give you a chance to learn to do it yourself and you won't be at the mercy of other people). Also, natural hair is cheaper.
For the reasons of learning your own hair, and for not having to spend a lot of money, natural hair (IMO) is the very best choice for teens.
