I once was relaxed now I have been natural for over 1 year. I am getting kinky twist next month. For now I wear wigs to obtain the length I want and to give me hair a rest I had my last set of braids removed back in November. First I pre poo with Extra virgin Olive oil then I wash my hair weekly with Cream of Nature(green label) and deep conditon with the Organic Root Stimulater with plastic cap under a hooded dryer for 15 min and sometimes with out the hooded dryer for one hour. Then I use the regular conditon by cream of nature (purple label), then I use neutrogena triple moisture silk touch leave in cream. I let my hair air dry. I avoid heat when all possible, For my daily moisture I use Sta soft fro and I mix evoo, shea butter, caster oil and jojoba oil together. I do not have a scanner so I can not show any pictures sorry. Thanks to the info I have obtained on this site, I was able to find what works best for me.

I feel your pain. I wore braids for a long time. my edges also were gone. I have been massaging Extra Virgin Olive oil on the areas and they have grown back really nicely. Keep your faith in God. He will make your hair grow back in no time. Hair problems have been known to cause one not feel good about his or her self. We have probably all been there one time or another. I now I certainly have.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems and hope you can combat this problem. I've never had this problem myself.
I have been using MTG to try to get my hair to grow longer just for the past week, and it seems my hair is getting thicker at the roots than I thought it would. Thicker than normal new growth....it almost seems like "NEW" hair is growing there. I don't know if this will help you, but it's worth trying at least.
You may want to speak with a trichologist/dermatologist before doing this, but my (non-medical) suggestion would be to stay away from relaxers or colors for a while and try to grow out your natural hair for a while, maybe doing some individual double strand twists (which are gorgeous, I used to wear them myself). Put a small black rubber band on the very end to keep them from coming apart. OR, if your personality and job allows it, if you're into African clothing you can sometimes wear them with matching headwraps (I wear those myself sometimes). If you don't mind afros, you can wear one with a headband that matches your outfits, just be sure that it's not on tight and it's not directly on your hairline.
I don't have any other suggestions.
Hair type: who knows?
Length: 23 inches as of 3/10/06
MY HAIR IS OFFICIALLY BRA STRAP LENGTH!!
Goal: Waist Length, which is only 30 inches so
ADVISE ME ON HOW TO GET JUST 7 MORE INCHES OF GROWTH!

I have traction alopecia from wearing a weave off and on for the last 8 months and was wondering if anyone has suffered from this problem and experienced the hair around their edges return? Through reading, I learned this problem can be permenant if the technique used to cause the problem continued for an extended period of time....assuming I'm over 30, I'm thinking 8 months is an extended period of time. Research shows that if the hair does not return in 8-12 months it can be assumed that the problem is permanent. I hate to think that this is the case. I've committed myself to better healthcare, not wearing weaves or braids again and going to stylists who actually have my best hair health interest in mind instead of making me look good. Just wondering if anyone here has or had the same problem? It's really taking a psychological toll on me but one thing I've built up in my spirit is that God can do anything and is greater than my biggest fears.....although one's beauty can be considered minor to what is actually going on in the world, it's just hard right now
