Right now I have a combo of pro tac (3 doubled hand tied wefts in the back) and silicon microrings (top back row and sides).  I have not lost any microrings and none of them have slipped any.  I just anchored the right side of my top weft track with a microring this morning as it was slipping.  I like the coverage and the extra hair I can get in with the weft/pro-tac install, but I can imagine it may be a little too hot in the summer (my head is used to having so little hair!).  Once the pro-tacs give out I will try a full install with the microrings.  If I am not happy with the coverage of the strands I will go back to combining the methods.

I have to wash my hair every other day (oily scalp and bonds become hard to hide) and use hair spray to make sure my thin hair covers the extension bonds, regardless of the method!

has anyone used the keratin glue? How does it old up in water..ie...swiming?

Kristie..I'm with you on the shrinkies being difficult to install by yourself....not to mention I'm getting a lot of slippage...mainly in the back.....could because my hair is thick and this french refined is difficult to brush out....holds curl great but... it has dried out.

I think I am going back to a individual method...but not sure which one.

Thanks,
JeepGirl

Current install-Bohyme Bodywave #30 and #14 in the straight hair/ they didn't have the #14 in bodywave, so I mixed them...works great!

Monsterita, they've been in four days, two shampoos and two round
brush blow drys, with no slippage. I can tell these suckers aren't going
anywhere, and they're SOOO easy to put in and take out. My only concern
in a full-head installation would be them showing through the fine top
hair. In my opinion, though, their flatness makes them much easier to
hide than those other reducing-tube thingies.

Kristie - how long have you had them in?  Have they slipped at all in your hair?

I'm with Jeepgirl on this - the Protac is fine, but it only lasts 3 weeks in my hair even held in with shrinkies.  I would like something longer lasting, too and am thinking of the microrings.....

I'm an extensions newbie and just wanted to put my two cents in for the
silicon-lined microrings on Amm's site. I didn't really like the heat-
reduction tube things (laffin) because I found them hard to put in, messy
to take out and lumpy in my hair. I received my microrings last week and
experimented putting a few in along the front. I got the very first one in,
first time, and it laid flat and has held perfectly (in very slippery, soft
hair), as have all the others I put in. I love it that you just give them a
little squeeze and they open right up, leaving no residue. I actually was
able to re-use one ring three times as I experimented with placement. I
still prefer wefts in my baby-fine hair because all the single strand
extensions tend to peek out, but for single strand, these new microrings
are the bomb! (And no burned fingers, either!)

Which is a longer wearing method... the glue(keratin) stick method or one of the micro rings.....silicone lined or un-lined?

Which one lasts the longest and holds up swimming and how dificult is each method for a DIYer?
Now that the shrinkies aren't available,.. I'm looking at a new method. I am currently wearing pro-tac and some shrinkies on the sides and the top/back area. I'm not so thrilled with this tape.....I figure it is because I use IC glossy serum and that stuff you can't hardly get off your hands so I'm sure it leaves some on my clean hair and thats why I can't get them to stay put....especially on the sides....I have to put LG to get them to stay in. This is a great winter and quick method... but not one I want to use during the summer....not to mention the "beard" of the weft is itchy.

Thanks for any responses on this.
Thanks,
JeepGirl
