I definitely think a redder brown would be nice, and it will be easier to achieve on stripped black hair. Since you have tanned skin, I'm not so sure though, red hair normally looks better on paler skin, but yours doesn't look too dark.

Well, I suppose it might be the picture- my hair was an auburn color with copper highlights that I had gotten six months ago (I was going to get them redone for my birthday). It is rather similar to my mother's hair, who is of Hispanic origin. I was indeed very frightened of my new black hair color, but I find myself amused now more than anything, having been called "Cher" more times than I would ever hope to like. I'm going to let it fade (I really don't know how long that takes- I wash my hair quite frequently because I hate the feel of oily hair) and if I decide to redye it, I was thinking of going with a more reddish, richer brown- what do you think? I'm not a great big fan of my black hair because it seems a bit too dramatic for my face, and I have a tan complexion (which isn't too obvious in the pictures), and it makes my skin seem rather yellow. I'm not sure. Any advice is welcome. I'm supposed to see someone about it on Friday if I decide to get rid of it. Thank you!

Clarinet girl, to be honest, I don't think your natural colour is very nice. It's very "grey", which makes it look dull and nondescript. I'm not sure why you like it so much as it's pretty much the bogstandard haircolour for caucasians(especially americans), but it's possible the shock of changing your hair colour got to you. It's not a summery look in my opinion because it is so dull. The best summery look would be a richer brown with blonde(or, since you dyed your hair back, you'll have to settle for orange) highlights. Maybe it's just the picture, but I don't think it's nice at all. You look cute and interesting with black hair, instead of a conservative sunday school girl.
If your patents really have that much control over you to get you so worried. There is no excuse for that selfish, control freak kind of parenting. Though it sounds to me like you're overreacting. You shouldn't care about how much your father likes your hair, it's yours, not his. If it breaks his heart, he can grow his own, or get a doll. You're your own person and you look marvellous with your new hair colour.
I'd say give it a chance. Let it fade out, and if you decide you don't mind it, dye it a more interesting shade of black than just a flat shade, a very strong blue/metallic black, or maybe a purplish one. If you do go back to brown, go for a richer colour.

I kind of miss my summery look. But I'd like to thank you both for responding. My mom offered to help me dye it back to the closest thing to my natural hair color, and I'm definately going to print out your advice, Longhairdreams. Thank you very much. I would keep it black, Miss.Misery, but it just isn't my style. Thanks again! =] Hopefully it'll come out alright.

And idle what you plan unless your art
Springs from the soul with elemental force
To hold its sway in every listening heart.
First of all anyone who offers help will need to know if you used a Semi permanent(level 1)which lasts 6 to 12 shampoo's.A demi(level2) Which lasts more like 24 shampoos.Or Permanent(level 3)which is there til you cut it out.If you used a semi then your hair is going to be left just like it started. If this is the case I would reccomend Washing it with a dishsoap. It will fade out the color much faster than basic shampoo. If you used a demi then you could do the same as the semi and fade it out.Granted your hair is not to porous(which it doesnt sound to be).If you used a permanent your hair can still be fixed but it wont be like it was before. But luckily there are alot of good silicone based conditioners to make hair look like new.
For permanent color you will need to get *Colorfix*.Its usually the easiest to get.But not everyone has access to it.If you live in the U.S. the you should have a Sally's Beauty supply around. They'll have it.Dont Get the color stripper from walmart. It works with a bleach mix. I would reccomend going to a salon, but color corrections can be pricey.Plus I have seen hair that should have been fixed fairly easy left really brassy and worse than before.
But it definitely couldnt hurt to get a consultation. Those are cheap plus the cost goes toward the final product.Good luck. You sound like a good girl. When I was your age I would actually sneak dying my hair even though my dad hated it.Your dad will probably just be disappointed like mine was.Dads seem to go soft where the daughters are involved.

This is very difficult for me to speak of. I'm a sixteen year old girl and I used to have a very lovely hair color (natural, of course), it was a very pretty light brown. Last night, I went to my friend's house and she convinced me to dye my hair a very dark jet black- we even lied to her mother to help us. I've never done anything this awful before and I'm scared to tell my father- he was always telling me how beautiful my hair was. And I've completely betrayed his trust with something silly. Now, I'm even more scared that my original hair color can never be saved, and although the black looks alright, I just want my hair color back. Please help me. I don't know what to do because I've never dyed my hair before and I'm very worried- I head that a good colorist can remove the color if it's been less than 48 hours.
