Hi Dee,
I agree with the suggestion about hair jewelry.
Also, have you looked through all the updos in the HairBoutique.com Gallery - Interactive Style Selector? I know there are at least 100 updo photos included there, I personally added them.
If you want something really trendy, why not do the the faux dreads that are so popular with all the stars. Jennifer Anniston started the trend but it is still very hot and I just saw a rock star on TV with the look.
You can really make it over the edge with hair glitter or clip in colored add on hair or make it more fancy with floating hair gems.
Best wishes, Karen Shelton HairBoutique.com

I LOVE TO DO UPDOS THAT ARE FUNKY. ONE OF MY FAVES IS TO JUST TAKE RANDOM SECTIONS ABOUT 2 INCHES WIDE AND PULL THEM UP MAKE A SMALL "BUN" AT THE BOTTOM TO ANCHOR LEAVING THE ENDS TO STAND UP AT 2-4 INCH LENGTHS. IF YOU CROSS THE BOBBY PINS THEY STAY REALLY WELL. YOU GROUP ALL THE SECTONS TOGETHER IN THE CROWN SO THE BASIC SHAPE IS LIKE A STANDARD UPDO. THEN USE A POMADE PRODUCT FOR SHINE AND GIVE THE ENDS A PUNKY, FUN KIND OF TEXTURE. YOU CAN USE THE POMADE ON THE FRINGE TO MAKE IT PIECY AND SEPERATED. I HOPE THIS MAKES SENCE.
TAKE CARE WITH YOUR HAIR!

Dee you can use shiny hair accesories to help it look funky. Dont go to finished looking you know kind of leave ends out and a few strands coming down? Does that help any? Let me know if I can help more k?
