I had trouble with the protac showing through too, I am a 1b so my hair is very dark.  The big shiny rows just didn't look right.

I just learned tonight, when I got frustrated with the micro-rings showing through (when I am lazy and don't fix the top they do) so I am now experimenting with cutting the pro-tac in half and putting a weft on it without folding it over and applying it very near the roots.  I did trim off alot of the extra tape.  It looks amazing, but I am curious to see how it holds up.  I wash my hair alot these days since I have been working out like crazy, I will report on how things turn out.  I can't believe the difference, even with my curly hair (the curls tend to stick together and let the rings show through, so normally I straighten the roots and tease a litte bit to hide them) not fixed you can't see a thing.  I even have to look for the wefts when I separate my hair.......if it works I'm going to be very happy :)
Wearing 22" 8oz Tease I tips installed with silicone microrings.

LOL! Maybe I should read the whole thread before replying so soon!

Yes, that stuff would probably work much better than the liquid plastic.

I bought some stuff called EasyTAB liquid plastic for use with something called 'tape tab system', thinking I would use it to make my own seamless wefts. It was a dismal failure.

It dries hard so I was too scared to use it directly on my hair. I'm afraid it will be permanent.
To tack down the ends of the Pro-Tac when they get loose, I just use really cheap latex from Sally's - just a dab to tack it down.

How far up do you girls go with your wefts? My side pieces definitely show near the front, so it takes some crafty styling to cover them.

I once just cut the protac in half an aplied it to the underside of the weft (like you do with bonding glue, Lg...u know:D) but i did not get the chance to se how it held up since i had to remove it quit quickly cause i was going to dye my hair....:D

But its worth a shot....:D it did not show up so much..:D

I have a question, what is the ChrissyV?
That Vapon looks intresting
So, Bird when you are saying that the Pro-Tac shows throught the top layer your talking about the tape that shows through, is that right?

Actually, I used ChrissyV and had no luck with it.  Plus, it's way to expensive for me.   That's why I'm going to try liquid gold.  BUT, I though liquied Pro-Tac would be worth a try!  I wonder if the manufacturer would sell some in liquid form without the tape?  I bet they would!  But how to get in touch with the manufacturer?

I had the same problem. I have very dark hair and the Protac showed
through on the top and slipped out easily. Now I use Chrissy V glue for
the very top wefts in the front and along the sides, and a few silicon
microrings in the very back on top to cover the Protac tape. I still have to
watch that stuff doesn't peek out, but it is pretty easy to keep covered
with a little hairspray.
Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE!

And here I thought I was the only one with that problem.I have a bunch of unused protac because of that.It showed throught the top layer really bad. I love how easy they were to get out,but they were way too visible.

I hear ya Bird...I have the same problem with the top row, which is why I use LG for the top row. I think I remember that you dont have any luck with the LG? Have you tried ChrissyV?

Well, I am hating how the Pro-Tac shows through on the top layer and my natural hair comes loose from the top layer after a few washes.........so I'm getting ready to try out liquid gold, but I was having another thought.   I wonder if we could get the adhesive that's on the Pro-Tac tapes in liquid form?
