I have blonde hair and black and RED comein! Not alot, but enough that if you close up to me you would laugh at me! HEHE!!lol. I don't do anything to it to get it there! It just comes! She could get some dye maybe and try that!

Does she overprocess her hair? Hair dye, perm, straightening? If so, those follicles probably have been damaged. They'll probably disappear over time.
Is she pregnant? If so, the texture change is due to hormones and will more than likely go away afterwards.
If she doesn't fit either, not to raise any alarms, but sometimes hairs will change texture like that due to an elevated level of androgens in the system. I'm currently getting checked out because I suddenly have coarse, kinked hairs growing in when I normally have normal, straight hair. They aren't changing color though.
