i think i am going with the person that cuts the hair from the weft, and applies it with bonding. i am going to try that for my first time, and then when its time to change it probaly try GL if i didnt love this method.
the best is to probaly do what you say, try different things to see what works best for YOU.
I tend to cut from the weft then apply strand by strand.
I began using the drawing board but, personally, lost a lot more hair that way despite being ultra careful.
I've found that doing it this way is a lot better for me. I guess you find what works for you and stick with it for a certain amount of time. When I used the drawing board, loads of strands came loose and after the job I'd have a huge hair ball on the floor.
It looks more professional from the drawing board though. And I imagine pre-tips application looks even more so.
thanks.. she showed me how she did it, and she takes pieces from the weft, and then bonds it with the glue she uses. she says they last 3-6 months. she had them in and they looked awesome. i am coloring my hair a week from saturday, so i am goingt omeet with her again to dicuss everything again and finally make my choice.

No, I think for wefts, it's a
lot shorter, it only takes me 1 hour to 90 minutes with pro-tacs (and I'm
not a professional, and I am doing it on myself!!) Uusually strand by
strand (not on wefts) takes longer, depends on experience.

then bond them to the hair? is that how it works?
I've never did that, I guess you could, I would never want to! If she is
doing fusion, she would cut it off probably, but from what I got out of it,
she was going to glue the actual wefts in, which would probably take a lot
less time.

ahhh. i just hope it doesnt shed. i guess the only way to really know is to have it done and maintain it the best way possible and hope for the best. u never really know whats going to happen unless u try it.

good hair, good installation and appropriate at-home
care, the shedding should be minimal.
Sorry but not true. I've had His and Her pre-tipped hair and never EVER
shed but their hair was pitiful. It didn't last more than six weeks.
Also, even if the stylist says she'll fill in b/c of shedding you don't
want to deal with shedding. It gets everywhere. You're constantly
pulling hair off your clothing and car seat and of course the bathroom
becomes full of hair.
Shedding is mainly determined by the installation and how good the bonds are. Of course, if the hair is not of good quality and difficult to brush you will get more shedding as well. But, with good hair, good installation and appropriate at-home care, the shedding should be minimal.

the person with GL waskinda cheap, with got me syeptical.
i really appreciate u responding.

Don't go with GL just because it's GL. If you can get good hair and are confident with the stylists' service and skills close to you, I would pass on the GL. Really, Great Lengths are only as good as the extensionist is anyway and you are going to pay more eventually for just the GL name.
sary.. when i first called her, she actually had me come in when she had a client in her chair, and i got to speak to the client, and see her extensions and how she did them and everything. the client told me she loved them and had been doing them forever. then she showed me her pics.
malibu... yeah i am really afriad of shedding. but both stylists (i dont know which one i am going to go to yet) said they will order extra hair, and let me keep it, so i guess if it does shed, then they will fix it. they both told me their extensions last 3-6 months.
i have also spoke to someone who does GL but shes an hour away from me, and i havent heard the best things on here about them. i am afraid to go to her, because if i have a problem, i am not going to be able to drive an hour away on the spur of the moment.
do u think its worth it to do GL, or are they all basically the same?
Then she may just be very profficient with her installations. Also, if you have a chance to talk to any of her clients, ask about the service they received. Be sure that she will be available for you if you should have questions or problems after the install. You are investing a lot of money in this service and deserve to be satisified with the results. Having a good relationship with the stylist will help things go smoother.

I think that SammyJB made a typo and meant a lotta hair!
If the stylist is going to install the hair with it still on the wefts that means that the entire weft or smaller measured pieces will be glued to your hair and 1 -2 hours is the standard time usually given for that type of install (this type of install is also usually much less expensive). If she is going to use a fusion strand by strand method and telling you 1-2 hours and she has to cut the hair from the weft, apply glue to the hair and attach it to an equal amount of your hair, then, she is either very experienced and efficient or under-estimating the amount of time that will be required for a full head strand-by-strand fusion install.

Takes me about an hour and a half to do mine myeself..... when the other girl put them in took about an hour.. (since she can see the back of my head)
But yea we measure the wefts around my head and bond 'em in! Not hard once you get the hang of it :D
