My dad is retired military, and I just wanted to say thank you for serving in the military.  I pray for your safe return and wish you the best!

Thanks to everyone who offered advice.  As it turns out, there is a female located with me that does hair in the states but I still needed to get my hands on some color.  I had to trust the Local Iraqis that they would venture out to get me a color that would work and they did a great job doing so - they got me Natural Ash Light Blonde.  My hair now looks MUCH better and like I want it to look.  As soon as I am able to get a picture up, I will post it.

Sincerely,

Yvette

A gutsy semi in a violet ash should do the trick nicely I have had the exact same scary bleach job & wella' colour touch semi in 9/16 fixed it up.

For OTC semis I would seek the advice of a professional.

I'm afraid that a toner (in the true sense is not mixed with anything) would not tone down the yellow.

All the best of luck & keep us posted on how you go.

Hi Yvette:

You might try getting some purple tint shampoo to tone down the yellow.  Something like Clairol Shimmer Lights (I think that's the name).  I got a generic bottle at Sally's Beauty.  So you may run across a generic out by you.  I think the Shimmer Lights was originally developed to reduce the yellowing that people with naturally grey or white hair sometimes experience.

I gave myself some highlights several weeks ago that turned out a bit yellow and this shampoo reduced the amount of yellow nicely.  You might try putting it on for only 3 minutes or so the first time as I've read some older posts where people indicate that it turned their hair a bit on the grey/purple side.  If that happens, don't worry it's only temporary and will fade within a few days and washes.

Good luck!  Maria

Hi Yvette,

Sorry to hear whats happened, and I see what you mean , you either need to use a colour remover to get rid of the brassy yellow from your hair, or you can buy a toner to tone down the yellow/gold from your hair. As I live in the uk, I do not know what and where you can get your hands on the above products , but I am sure you will get them at any good hair &beauty store. good luck.

Karen

Hello, I am new to this board but glad I found it.  I'm in a situation/bind and need some fast tips on how to fix my problem.  Here's my hair gone bad story:  For whatever reason I am unable to get the pictures to upload in the image place and it won't work right in add image either.  But the pictures are on my blog at:

http://yvettelachute.blogspot.com

The two pictures on top are what my hair looked like in September and what I would like for it to look like.  The two on bottom (with me in uniform) are what it looks like as a result of yesterday.

I've been getting my hair highlighted blonde regularly for 6 1/2 years and have not had any major problems.  However, a month ago I was FINALLY able to get to a hair stylist for highlights after 5 months of not having access to one as I am currently deployed to Iraq and my location does not have a beauty salon (the nearest one is 2 hours away).  Anyway, I asked for blonde as always.  When done there was red in there and I didn't like it because you could see the difference between the now red roots and the rest of my hair.

So yesterday I got stranded in a location with a beauty salon and took the opportunity to getting my hair fixed the way I want it.  And I went to a professional (ok the kind they have in Iraq anyway).  At least the first time it was tolerable and looked "ok" but not what I typically get done.  This time, I don't even want to take my headgear off, not even in doors because it came out white/yellow and it's a bright color.  The person told me to wait 2-3 days and it would relax but I don't see how.  I've alread washed it twice to see if that would help but to no avail.  If I can just get it to fade a few shades it actually wouldn't look too bad but I don't have a clue how to do that AND I'm back at my usual location with no access to a hair prosfessional.  I was trying to get it to look the way I usually wear it before I go home for good (good thing I've got some time for it to somehow fix itself).

Can someone PLEASE help me fix this somehow?  I've already got it on my list to fix next month when I get home.  I couldn't get it to upload the image of how it turned out vs how it usually looks BUT will gladly try to find a way to get the picture sent for viewing if necessary.

Any and all advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,

Yvette
