Hi natasha

I'm so pleased that things are improving. Evidently, your still not very happy with your colour which is a shame but I know how you feel. Your hair is still in fairly good condition from what you say so you could try bleaching further and see how it goes but I would continue with the shampoo for a few days....along with some deep conditioning treatments to give your hair a rest and ensure that your hair is in the best possible condition before you bleach again, or maybe you could put in more highlights here and there. I'm not a pro and these are just suggestions remember so check it out with someone who knows for sure before you do anything else. Good luck.

thank you both for your helpful imput!!

i went to sallys and the girl picked out a toner (Clairol w/ a blue-violet base)& a developer w/ 30 lift and i applied for 20 minutes, as directed....good news is it does look much better; however, the color still looks a bit orange or brassy.   i bought the shimmer lights shampoo....the girl at sallys said it will help pull the rest of the brassiness out in time.   Any experience on that??  Should I try to redo a blonde color?...maybe a darker/honey blonde?
One thing is that fortunately my hair appears to still be in pretty good condition.  I haven't had any breakage and it still seems pretty soft....and the somewhat whiteish highlights are still somewhat whiteish (but I can live with that!)

I'm not a pro either, but it sounds to me like you're in a tight spot.  For the orange hair, you would need to use a toner or blonde with a blue base to either counter the orange or lift it more and counter it.  However, since you have some white in there, I wouldn't recommend it because the hair that is white will come out blue or green.  Likewise if you try to go dark, the hair that is white or yellow now is what's going to be the problem with turning green.  The easiest thing to do at this point would be to let the salon handle it.  If you really can't do that, the second would be to try to continue to go blonde, and use a blue based blonde dye (that will counter the orange)...but then you will have to try to keep the white or yellow pieces out of it, pin them out of the way and not get dye on them if you can help it.

If you want your blonde a lot lighter (talking about the orangey parts here, not the white, which you will have pinned out of the way), then get a developer to go with the dye that has some lift, like 30 volume ...since you went with very high lift before does that mean you want almost white platinum hair?  If so, get 40 volume.  If you don't want it a much lighter shade than it already is, go for 20 volume only).  A creme developer (as opposed to liquid) will likely help you to keep it off of the hair you don't want it on, it will be a touch thicker.

Hi Natasha

Sorry to hear about your experience. I'm not really qualified to give you advice about this but I'm sure that there will be someone else on the forum who can and will. All I do know is that you are right when you say about going back to dark brown, you do have to use a red filler first I believe, which is available at Sally's. I have made the mistake before of trying to cover bleach with a brown, without using a filler first and believe me....you wouldn't want to go there.

Its difficult to give you advice on what to do as I have no idea what condition your hair is now in or what the exact colour is at the moment....If you can provide a pic....this always helps. You could also get advice from your local sally's store, it may well be that you only need a toner but it depends on what stage you've bleached your hair too really. Confused

so i went out on a limb and decided to go blonde.  i've gotten highlights regualrly for the last two years, crown only, but couldn't afford to make another pricey trip to the salon....and my roots were tremendous!
I used a high lift bleaching blonde kit....now i have orange-ish blondish hair (brassy?)...and where the highlights were, they are almost white.
at this point i don't know if i need to use a toner, and if so what kind and color...and what will those do?   or i don't know if i need to say frig it and try to somehow get back to my natural dark brown hair color ( someone told me you have to go red then brown for that or you'll have green hair?)
any advice from anyone who has a pretty good idea of what they are talking about will be super appreciated.  i'm prepared to go to sally's and get whatever it takes...i only wish i had the cash and the time to go back to the salon
thanks bunches!!!!!
