Ah , well, I think that toners are better than dyes because they kind of give you a trial run, I always opt for a toner before I commit to a permanent. They tend to fade much faster which is a real bonus if you don't like the shade that you've ended up with. Of course, its a matter of personal preference and you may prefer to use a permanent dye immediatley. No matter what you decide ( toner or permanent) I think that Ash would be the way to go in your case ( if you decided to stay light and wanted to remove the orangy yellows ) but of course you must do what ever you feel is best. I think the colour looks pretty good as it is and is perfectly acceptable.

Oh. What I was meaning was just not using a toner at all, just going out and getting some dye in a color such as 'ash blonde'. I've never used a toner and I'm sort of wanting to avoid it if I could .. I just didn't know if slaping another hair dye would mess up my hair color even more, or make the brassy/yellow tint worse.

What I am trying to say is 'yes' I think that using an Ash toner Would help but ( and i'm sure you will ) do a strand test first. I suggest a toner because if its not what you want then at least you can fade it out. If you do apply an Ash toner and like it, you could then get a permanent Ash and apply that. The herbal toners that I mentioned at Sallys...come in 5 different shades....Ash included, and they have proper swatches in the store ( hair type swatches ) so you could pick which ever you fancy. As I said earlier, the condition of the hair after using this brand was great in my hair. I recommend it.

So dying it a darker ash color wouldn't be a good idea? It wouldn't take out the brassy/yellow look? I also think it's way to light, maybe I just think so because my hair has been dark for so long. ::sigh::

I was going to suggest an Ash toner to you when you said about removing the orange/yellow tint, I believe that its what is commonly used for this purpose. Sallys ( UK) do a lovely toner called Herbal hair or something very similar ( definately has Herbal in the name ) made by a company called Proclere I believe. I used some last week and it made my hair feel wonderfully soft ( and my hair is very dry indeed ) It is definatly worth looking into. They do about 5 different shades of toner and have the colour swatches in the store. If your really scared about using a toner, just do a timed strand first, I would definatley do this anyway. Let us know how you go.

Thanks. I'm sort of scared. What exactly does a toner do? I mean, I know it takes out yellow/orange tones... but do you think it would help in my case? Which is a good brand?
I was also thinking, could I just dye it a different color? or could this possibly make matters worse? I was thinking:
I'm really liking the ash blonde, but I'm not sure if when I dye over it, it will turn out. What do you think? I also REALLY like this color
..so if anyone knows a brand and color that is similar, please let me know. The colors above are L'Oreal, I haven't used that brand in a long, long time. I can't remember if it's trustworthy or not. If you guys think all my hair needs is a toner, L'Oreal has a tone refiner for blondes, maybe I'll try it.

I left the blonde color on for about 30 minutes. The instructions said 20-25 I believe, but I just wanted to make sure I had some sort of blonde color.
I was thinking, should I use a toner? If so could I use it on my colored hair?.. I read that they help remove yellow/orange tint or something. Maybe that's what I need. I've never used one. ..because I was thinking, I don't want to do the whole 'Born Blonde' thing. It will probably dye my hair super light, and I def. don't want to go back to being a pale blonde. I'll try and post a better picture soon, sorry.

The colour that your hair is now doesn't appear to be very different from the champagne blond swatch that you have shown in your link. You have obviously got the colour very close anyway so I think if it was me I would use a shade that would take the colour a level or 2 lighter ( depending on the condition of your hair of course ) But I am no expert so maybe someone else could suggest an alternative.
by the way, the first pics where you had used the colour remover look pretty scary, I think I would have freaked at that stage. Concidering that , I think you have attained a very acceptable colour.

Ok. I've finally had the guts to do it. I went back to my old color. I used to be a pale blonde, then I went to a dark brown, then a light brown ..etc. yesterday I finally had enough courage (after plenty of thought) to go back to blonde.
I removed the color with L'Oreal Color Remover ..I left it on for around 40 minutes or so. (The instructions said 20-50 until I got a red/orange color.) I got this color:
I was about to have a heart attack even though I've removed color before. I just didn't think the yellow would calm down since I was dying my hair a light color. ..I went with a Revlon Colorsilk #73 (very similar to the #930? in my last post) *here is the color*
After I applied my color, this was my result:
I think it looks a little too yellow/brassy? I'm on 'spring break' so I have awhile to fix things. Just wondering what you'd suggest to do. When I removed the color, I hadn't dyed my hair in about 3-4 weeks so my natural hair was grown out a little.. which made my roots a little lighter than the rest of my hair. I dunno if you can tell by the picture.
I was thinking maybe a product like Bourne Blonde? ..Maybe just dye it again. I have no idea.
