Hello I am about to get my hair braided into single braids maybe 2x bigger than micro and I wanted to wash my hair while my hair is in braids. I was just wondering what other peoples experience has been with washing braids...did your hair get fuzzy, did the braids start to slip out? TIA
When I wore braids I washed my hair once a week. I used Creme of Nature shampoo, and I would dilute the shampoo with water (about 1/2 and 1/2). I would apply the shampoo solution and gently press or sqeeze through the braids. Make sure you rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of shampoo, and always wash your braids in the shower. I'd pat dry the braids in a big towel and apply a leave in conditioner followed by a light oil spray..
I didn't have an issue with frizzies. If I did it was usually around the time to take the braids out (1-2 months) A little alcohol free styling gel and tying the braids at night with a scarf helps with the frizzies..

Hello blackhoneyy112, my name is Shiry, pleased to meet you. First of all, check with the braid stylist and see what she recommends. Normally your not allowed to wash for at least a week if not longer. You cannot wash braids often because they will loosen, depending on how tight she braided the hair into your hair. I am not talking about scalp wise either, and the second thing is whether she tied a knot or used bonding glue. Now if your knot is really tight along with the braid, then you shouldn't have hardly any slippage.
Now, from my past experience I have went to Sally's and bought seabreeze for the itchy scalp, and the shea butter. I cannot remember the name of the product off the top of my head, but I think it's called organic root stimulator, they have a dry shampoo that you can use. You apply it with a cotton ball and go between your braids.
I am sorry I couldn't be a whole lot of help, but consult with your stylist first.
Shiry
