Oh, the dress sounds quite pretty. I'm not quite sure what a finger wave is. Is it something like *this* ..if so, I'm not sure I like the looks of it. You could always try it out out a week our so before prom to see how it looks to see if you like it..

My hair is actually quite thick in the back. It's only layered in the front so it looks thinner.
Thanks for the pictures. I quite like the first.
My dress is a 50s glam dress with polka dots if it helps any. A friend
of mine suggested a finger wave but is it long enough or would it suit
my face? Thanks again :)

Hopefully I can help you with your hair problem. It looks like in the picture that you have thin hair.
Here are a few ideas you may like, also I think if you do a tiny flip, (like the first one below, with the hair sort of messed up, it will look very nice.)
My hair currently looks like this: http://myspace-464.vo.llnwd.net/00689/46/43/689243464_m.jpg
I'm tall 5'7" so flipping my hair out will apparently make me look
"butch". Many of the photos that I've looked at with 'short prom hair'
had shoulder length hair... which in my opinion isn't short at all. I
figured I would get more suggestions out of a forum with similar people
(as opposed to 70% of people in the prom forum with long hair). They'd
probably suggest that I get extensions, which I'm not fond of.
