Hi,
Thank you all for replying to my post! :-)
I've been browsing around Kristin's website (I think www.yourhairshop.com) today and saw the pretipped D-Lux hair too. I am thinking of buying some... I did get a second opininon on the Milkyway Yaki's I have. Regular 4 packs are rather coarse... However, 2 packs of Milkyway Platinums are very soft... although yaki, it's closer to my hair texture. So, I guess I'll be using those as my very first extensions! Will definitely look into others later though.
I've also contacted a few online stores regarding their micro rings/links/extentubes. It appears all of them, with an exception of the aluminium ones sold on hairpiece, are made of nickle/copper. Even the silicone-lined ones. Bummer.
May have to use to Protac... Naked Eye & Misslou, thank you for letting me know about that one! I'm starting to read a little more on that method.

I know nothing about the texture of yaky, but I think the D-lux hair on
www.yourhairshop.com would be perfect for someone with straight coarse
hair.
It is a very straight and coarse texture, which is making it very hard
to blend with my fine silky hair. It seems to get straighter and
coarser after every wash. Don't get me wrong, it is nice
hair......but not fine like my own. I think the hair is asian, so
that would probably be perfect for you also.
It comes pre-tipped in sticks, so if you are doing micro-rings that would work out too.
Good luck.
Wearing 22" 8oz Tease I tips installed with silicone microrings.
i'm 1/2 asian, and i found that the wawa yaky straight was a
perfect match in texture to asian hair. going to prove that just
because it says yaki, it might now feel/look like yaky.
i also agree w/ naked eye, protacs are awesome. i tried it
for the 1st time this sat (in time for a friend's wedding) and it was a
cinch! the best part about protac is that you can use wefts = no
pretipping!
here's my semi-photo-documentary of my install: http://www.hairextensions101.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137
what I'm wearing: 1 pkg 18" DLux SS #2 and protac

Hey! You should try pro-tacs, easiest in the world, fast, cheap, and you
can use the wefts and not pre-tip!!
I am caucasian, and even I can use some different types of yaki (but my
hair is coarser (not really coarse, but inbetween) and some yaki doesn't
even seem like yaki. So it depends, if you have really silky fine hair, it may
not match well.
So yeah, I would suggest you look into pro-tac, it would be horrible to
spend 10 hours pre-tipping and installing only to have an allergic
reaction!!!
No, I have a african american based clientale here in texas. a lot of them are not aware of the remy hair. they prefer to use the commercial hair because it is convenient and inexpensive at the time. I don't like the italian wavy by milky way. it is gorgeous that first day, but after you wash it, it is very tangly and unmanegable.

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm getting a bit anxious because my best friend's wedding is in a couple of weeks & need to get this hair thing taken care of
My hair... I haven't done ANYTHING to my hair for almost 2 years! No chemicals.... I used to dye, highlight, permed or relaxed on regular basis up until then. With an exception of the ends, the hair's "virgin". It is dark brown, not so straight, alittle shorter in the front, back is about 4 inchs below my shoulders - grew out quite a bit! My hair is naturally wavy overall, even slightly curly around the temple and nape. My MilkyWay's are all STICK straight, I'm thinking they are processed (relaxed) hair designed for African Americans.
Hmmm... I read about silicon lined micro-rings... My only concern is that the outer is still made of copper (which possibly will have nickle composite).
Your hair is a straighter course, so that's a hard one. I use Milkway on my clients, but it is the best commerical hair though. It will still tangle and shed after the first couple of shampoo''s though. Have you had any chemicals on your hair? Like color or a perm? You may have to presoften your hair to change your texture so your hair wouldn't look so so straight. I haven't tried the aluminum rings , but I've heard that the silicone line rings are great.

Hi, a newb here :-) I spent an ENTIRE day yesterday learning from this forum, a wealth of information - amazing!
A friend of mine who had a beauty supply business gave me 6 packs of hair well over a year ago. I wasn't too sure about extensions then & thought my hair to be too short... wanted to wait until my hair grew out to below my shoulders, silly me. So, I have 2 packs of MilkyWay Platinums (14 inches) and 4 MilkyWay regular packs (16 & 18 inches), all yaki's to work with... I don't know how good MilkyWay's are, but the Platinums feel like million dollars. Too bad they are in wefts - would need to pretip.
Two Questions:
1) After browsing the net for a while, I read that the YAKI's are for African American hair? And Silky Straights are for Caucasian hair? I'm Asian. Do you think I can get away with YAKI's?
2) I decided to try Micro Rings DIY. Looked fairly staight foward. Then, I read the other threads about people having allergic reactions to copper micro rings because some have nickle in them. I'm allergic to nickle. I was about to change course to shrinkies when I found supposedly a different type of micro ring or tube at http://www.hairpiece.com/product.asp?pf_id=BALTU. They are made of aluminium. Has anyone tried these aluminium micro rings/links? With my nickle allergy, I want to make sure before purchasing all supplies. Otherwise, would have to go for shrinkies, which I'm not too thrilled about only because they seem a little harder to do for a newb. :-)
Thanks for reading this long posting & thanks for your response in advance.
