When I started transitioning I noticed around the 10th week that my hair was breaking really badly.   I had to do two deep protein treatments (not one right after the other mind you!) and then everything was fine for me.
Stacey Dash is my hair idol.

Renata, you're totally right but once the thick new growth kicks in, and nothing looks the same.  So I constantly comb out, tease, and touch constantly!  I just need to leave it alone!

Don't stress so much, and don't do so much to the hair. Believe it or not, I don't do pre-poos or deep condition or protein treatment (even though I use a regular conditioner that contains protein).

My advice: wash your hair once a week and do a braidout. Wear that braidout all week until it's time to wash again. Saturdays a good day for this as you let it air dry all day Sunday and take it down Monday just in time for school/work.

If all else fails, keep it moisturized and braided and put a wig over it (but still wash it once a week). Just don't stress so much, don't over condition, don't over protein, and don't over wash.

Hair type: who knows?
Length: 23 inches as of 3/10/06
MY HAIR IS OFFICIALLY BRA STRAP LENGTH!!
Goal: Waist Length, which is only 30 inches so
ADVISE ME ON HOW TO GET JUST 7 MORE INCHES OF GROWTH!

.. I'm laying off relaxers for a while..and I've noticed I've been getting severe breakage too... I was in denile at first until, I  looked the marble sink.  WOW!  It's horrible.  Everytime I touch my hair a little snip comes off.. EWW. Dammit this is driving me crazy.  I would like to know also.  I'm with LHG!  By the way, I do try all the deep conditions and what not.. I haven't done a pre-poo in awhile..and I'm thinking about it with some good ole' V05..that never failed me.

without having severe breakage?  It seems that if I try to go past 8 weeks my hair just breaks off, and I want to try to stretch because its healthier for the hair.  What have you ladies been doing to help with your stretches???
