My stylist recommends that I trim at least every 2 months. The back of my hair gets split a lot for some reason. She trims and I can see the hair she cuts, and I see my hair fall onto the floor....but she trims so little that it doesn't seem to affect my length. I think she trims less than a half inch.
Hair type: who knows?
Length: 23 inches as of 3/10/06
MY HAIR IS OFFICIALLY BRA STRAP LENGTH!!
Goal: Waist Length, which is only 30 inches so
ADVISE ME ON HOW TO GET JUST 7 MORE INCHES OF GROWTH!

I only trim when necessary. I was going to one stylist and she was "trimming" my ends left and right. My hair went from shoulder length to the tip of my ear. So I made her stop trimming my ends, my hair eventually grew back but now I have a new stylist and he TRIMS my ends only when it needs it. He doesn't go scissor crazy either.

I used to think Trimming was for caucasian chicks, and yeah I was really ignorant! Few years ago, my hair broke off because of swimming and improper care, so I got a good cut, and it grew back nicely. To be safe, maybe you should evaluate your ends. No sense in hanging on to messed up length. Oh, and now I mildly trim every 10-14 weeks, because I use heat often

Once I started trimming my hair I saw a big change in it. I used to never trim it and my hair never retained any length. It was always the same length and in bad health. Holding on to bad ends won't do you any good. It will do you more damage than good.

You only need to trim if necessary. It is good to take care of your ends to reduce the amount of times it needs to be trimmed. It will be almost two months for me since I got my ends trimmed. On the 20th of this month will be my 8th week.
First Goal-Full SL
Second Goal- Full APL
Final Goal-Any length beyond is all gravy
I NEVER trim my ends. Once my hair was sooo damaged that I cut off about 5 inces of my 11 inch hair. It was pretty drastic, but I was tired of the brakage. To my surprise, only a few short weeks later, my short hair was now just as dry as my long hair. From now on I've decided to grow it out healthily then cop off dead ends IF its necisarry after I treat it and strengthen it up. Why do you ask?
