Thanks for all of your input. I did Colorfix on my dark red hair and now it's mixed of my natural color, orange and goldish areas from the bleaching I did a few weeks ago and missed some sections. Do I use bleach cap all over my hair to lift to the desired level and for how long, 40 or 30 minutes? I decided to go for blonde instead of light brown since it's summer time. However, I prefer light ash blond rather than platinum blond (too light for me) and I already bought Clairol creme toner in Towhead from Sally's so I hope to use it after I'm done with bleach cap.

Yes, I've used colorfix numerous of time. So you're suggesting I use this first to remove the colors before I proceed with bleach cap method? Did this method lighten all the way to blonde on you? How many times did you have to do bleach cap before toning to blonde? Thanks.

Yes~ I used the colour fix (the half remover or the gentler directions that they include). After that, I used the bleach cap which brought my hair right back to a level 9~ although it was a 'mucky', dull level 9.
At that point, I went into a salon and had them do what they referred to as a 'flash toner'~ which was basically just a toner that used approx 7 to 9 vol developer.
I only used each method mentioned above once...and didn't do any on the same day. One thing I've noticed since getting my 'blonde' back is that whenever I go in to the salon to get my roots touched up (every three to four weeks or so), we have had to tone it more often that we used to before the 'colour disaster'! Before, it was toned maybe once every fourth visit and now it is almost every other visit~ sometimes a couple salon visits in a row.
If I lived in the USA, instead of going to the salon for the 'flash toner', I may have also just gone to Sally Beauty and purchased Clairol Born Blonde toner in a shade like 'Silent Snow' or similar... although I colour my hair pretty light with ash tones. You could go with whichever suits you best. Or try the salon too. It is often worth it if you trust the person colouring you... I'm just so fed up with salons because the two hair disasters I have had in two years were caused at high end salons with good repuatations, so I am a bit nervous and now watch everything they do and repeat myself over and over to ensure so mis-communication.

Also, don't forget to give your hair lots of TLC with deep conditioning (wrap hair with a hot, damp towel or sit under a hair dryer while deep conditioning), etc... to help with the damage it can get from all the colourings!

I can't recall what the recipe for bleach cap/bleach bath is, but I did get it from this forum. I think all I did was search the term 'bleach cap' or bleach bath' or also 'soap cap' and read the posts.
I do recall it was pretty close to what you have suggested though~ one part bleach mixture (I used 30 vol developer), 1 part shampoo... Can't recall adding water in it, but not positive about that one..
I'm not sure if you've thought about/discussed this topic yet as I haven't been on the colour forum for awhile, but have you considered Color Fix? It is 'supposed' to be gentler than bleach and can really take colour out of your hair well. When I needed to get some awful brown and red colours out of my usually level 9/10 blonde hair, I used Color Fix to get what I could out and then used a bleach cap to lighten up from there.... Then we toned it with a 'gentle' toner (that used a small amount of peroxide in it) and it was much better!

Hi all! I'd like to know if it's possible to do bleach bath/cap (whatever you call it) to remove current color and to go a little lighter? What's the recipe for bleach bath? Equal parts of water, shampoo, bleach and developer right? For bleach, use powder or liquid?
I'm trying to go for a dark sandy blonde or light sandy brown color so I can lighten to goldish level and past orange. I had my dyed black hair color stripped with ColorFix and bleached it to light orange. Then I dyed it with a semi-permanent lightest brown level 5. Then I dyed a dark auburn (level 5) over this base. Now, it's fading already. I'd like to return to lightest brown/dark blonde and get rid of this auburn color. My hair's in good condition except for the ends which will be trimmed away.
