Low ponies until the shortest layers are long enough to be hidden within a bun or higher pony.  You might be able to french braid now.  I've done this on another's fairly short and layered hair -- it can be done (most "easily" by someone else, though).

Thanks!

Well, today I didn't blow dry but my hair looks like a matted mess so I put it in a pony tail.  (ick)  The problem is that I have layers now that I don't like, and the first layer starts at my ears, and my longest length is about to my bra strap.  So when I pull it up, if I go too high with the pony, it looks like a feather duster.

Got any up-do style tips?  I never wear my hair up so I am clueless.

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear what happened.  I know this isn't a lot of consolation, but the great news is that your current state of hair is not permanent!  I'm about the last one to give advice on growing hair, but from what I've read, you really do need to treat your hair with kid gloves.  If you do actually have split ends, they won't ever magically grow together, so I think it would be wise to cut off the actual split ends, but no more than absolutely necessary.  If it's hard to style your hair without heat, maybe you could do an updo for awhile.

Hi Lmacy - so sorry about your hair woes. I was in your shoes a few years ago after a really bad cut and color experience. So, for me the key to long healthy hair has been extreme patience and taking extra special care of my hair and my health. I can't stress the patience enough. It has taken me a few years to grow my hair back to it's current healthy length. It won't happen overnight, but follow the suggestions here and you can't go wrong.......

Hi, I'm so sorry your hair is sick, but you CAN help to make it better.

You need to really start babying your hair, this means no heat, gentle infrequent washing, using oils, wearing protective upstyles, regularly trimming off the damage and no more chemicals!

Supplements are OK, but in my experience they are not the miracle cure.  It's just going to take some time.  Spend the time learning some new techniques for hair care and you should see results soon.

HTH.  Good luck!!

Okay, I had virgin 32" hair until about a year ago when I got the dimwhitted idea to become a blonde.  Since then, the bleaching, processing and over processing and then trying to go back to my natural brown hair has FRIED my hair.  It's about bra-length now and the ends are fried.  Is it true that if I cut those ends off it might grow better??
I also use heat everyday.  I guess I should stop that too?
After I tried going back to brown, (I used ash and got green) I had so much breakage that I had to get my hair MAJORLY layered to hide the breakage.  I am so depressed!  I just want my long natuiral hair back ASAP.  I take Biotin, but honestly don't see a difference.  What can I do???   And my layers are so short that I get POOFY when I curl it.

Please help!  I'll try anything!  Diet, vitamins, oils...I don't care!!
