Hi Ranita,

I've never heard of shaking your head to simplify the post-wash detangling process (and I think if I tried it the tangles would be worse), but if it works for you that's what matters most.  And FWIW I don't think it will damage the strands.

SanFranBrent, I am sorry. I didn't notice the other post about detangling on this board until you mentioned it, but I just had a specific quetion that went a bit beyond the basics of detangling and wondered if what I was doing would damage my hair or not. But anyhoo, thanks for your replies, everyone.

I don't think it does.  I think anything that reduces tangling, and therefore the need to detangle, helps reduce damage.

Sometimes after I wash my hair, I will shake it out and it normally helps with the tangles....but I was wondering, does that hurt your hair?
