I'm in hair heaven! I've never ever been able to have an updo because of fine, thin hair that has mostly been too short to put up. But I've loved the messy twist updo look for years now. It can look so elegant, and some dress-up outfits just scream for an updo.
Once I started wearing extensions, I attempted a few with clips and such, but didn't have much success, in part because my own growing-out hair was still so short. Well, yesterday I bought a whole bunch of banana clips, other clips, and some new hair pins I found at the local drug store, and started playing with getting my hair up. In about 5 minutes I was able to pull off a perfect twisty messy updo using these nifty new hairpins made by Scunci called Magic-grip, and costing less than $3 for 10. (I used about 12 to get mine up.) They're tortiseshell-looking plastic with a little round ring thing on the top, and they hold up thick extension hair perfectly! The other thing I love about these is that they seem to be compatible with my Protac tape/wefts. I've found that bobby pins and hair combs are tricky because of how they interfere withthe tape. I was able to stick these in through the hair and not mess up the Protac tapes at all!
La la la, I'm going out tonight and am planning on sporting my new updo!!!
