Phoebe,
I have had really good luck with Loreal Casting as a semi permanent. It has been my favorite for a few years. I use a light auburn, I think its called sunset copper.
I haven't tried the darker reds, but a friend of mine also uses Casting in one of the dark brown shades. She likes it too.
The colors seem to be more real than clairol, and more rich than Loving care.
Hi all! I currently get semi-permanent color in the salon to cover gray (I go for a slightly richer version of my own color). I would like to color at home if possible (I recently had a baby and just don't have the time and $$ to get it done in the salon all the time). I would like opinions about which drugstore products have the best pigments. I have tried clariol in the past and found the colors to be metallic and unnatural (I am a level 5 brunette and with red highlights - I typically get a red/gold mix of color - currently Wella Touch 5/3 and 5/4 mixed 50:50 - previously I was getting Schwarzkopf semi-perm color med and dark chestnut 50:50). Years ago I used Revlon shadings in reddish brown (I think the color name was cognac) and it was great, but they stopped making it (of course). I liked the results I was getting with the schwartzkopf color best, but it is hard to find salons in my area that use it (I changed jobs, so my old salon just isn't convenient anymore). I would appreciate any input/advice. Thanks!!! Phoebe
