QuoteReplyTopic: Should I dye my eyebrows?? Posted: June 26 2006 at 6:16pm
I have medium blonde hair naturally, and I dye it medium to dark brown.
My eyebrows are horrible, I really hate them (they're so light you can barely see them).
I've had salons dye them, and every single one I asked did it. It does look kind of goofy for about three days because your skin gets stained by the dye too, but they're really nice after that. Unfortunately, they seem to fade much faster than the color they put in your scalp hair. I also don't like using a pencil because it doesn't get them as dark as the dye does.
If you're going to a salon anyways for your hair dye you might as well ask them to do it. I've been a do it yourselfer lately with my hair color and have been scared to try dying them myself. I was told if you do it, don't leave the dye on long and if your eyes start to burn or otherwise hurt, wash off immediately. Just my own suggestion but I'd advise using a q-tip or something to try on yourself and then wipe up any excess right away. *shrugs*
I have very light non existent brows. I had the salon do them for awhile and then just started using brow pencils. I recently went to Sally Beauty Supply and asked if they had a kit for eyebrows and she gave me a kit especially made for eyebrows. It is very simple to use and the directions are great. The kit contains 48 applications and one application has lasted me about 6 weeks. They can be a little dark at first but after about three days they fade a bit and look great no more brow pencil, saves a few minutes in the morning make up routine.
Once when I was in a "red phase" I allowed a salon to dye my brows to better match my hair. They turned out fine.
I've never added color in my own to make my brows darker, but I can't see any reason why not to try it. "Color correction" for eyebrows certainly isn't going to leave you with unhealthy eyebrow hair to deal with for several months.
My eyebrows are so dark they're almost black. My natural hair color is
so much lighter that it never looked right. Now that I go even lighter
with my hair, I bleach my eyebrows with no problems. They do grow out
quickly.
You might want to play around with brow pencils (as if drawing little hairs in with your
own) and see what kind of results you get. I over-waxed once and had a small area in the middle of an
eyebrow with no brow. I was able to hide it by using 2 colors of brow
pencils and no one noticed.
I have dark brown hair but I'm naturally light blonde...my eyebrows are
light brown and it can look silly, so I just use an eyebrow pencil to
fill them in a bit. It's really quite effective.
If you really want to dye them go to a beauty salon where they do it...don't try hair dye or anything!!!

I would say go ahead but just be careful. Myself, I don't think it's a big deal if you screw up because they grow super fast and you can always bleach over them if you mess up anyway. I've messed mine up a zillion times -- of course, I looked like an idiot for about a week -- just until I (and everybody else, I'm sure!) got used to them. I started having my hair dresser do my brows and they look much nicer now. So, if you are going to a salon, go for it for sure. If you're doing it yourself, you can't do THAT much "damage."
I think it's just about the worst when a girl had dark hair and obviously light brows; way more so than dark brows and light hair -- that one you can get away with much more easily.
