Hello, I am posting this information because I am hosting a two day Lace Front Wig Making Course in New Jersey. The course is being taught by a wig maker out of new york city. He is a theatrical wig maker and he has made wigs for numerous plays, TV shows and Movie!!!! I posted this information on the BHM Board, so I decided to post it on this site. I am offering this class for 10 people, I have 3 spots open on a first come first serve basis. Below you will find the sylabus of the class schedule!!
Ok, Here is the sylabus, this is his email message to me, Please read!!!
Below you will find the proposed syllabus for the wigmaking course. As we discussed, the course should cover two days, preferably with at least a few days in between each day so that people can work on their wigs as homework.
I believe the goals of the course should be as follows:
1. Learn about the basic structure of wigs. 2. Learn about the materials needed to make a wig. 3. Learn to make a headwrap of a person's head and take proper measurements. 4. Learn to stuff a canvas head (to match the size of a person's head) using the headwrap. 5. Learn to ventilate hair - single hair, multiple hairs, single knot, double knot, fronts, parts. 6. Learn to sew using the ventilating needle and clear nylon thread. 7. Learn to create the foundation for the wig. 8. Learn the directions of ventilating - back of wig, crown, sides, top, front, parts. 9. Learn how to prep a person to wear a wig. 10. Learn how to place a wig on a head and the many options for securing it to the head.
Specific goal: Everyone will go home with a wig begun that, when finished, will fit their own heads perfectly (or at least really well - - these are beginners after all).
All that being said, here's a proposed syllabus:
Day 1. Introductions Who I am and what I do for a living. Basic talk about the types of wigs and the terms used in wigmaking. Points 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and part of 8 from above list. Assign homework.
Once again, this will be a 2 day course, let me know what you think!!!! Day 2. Talk about the homework, and the processes each person went through to ventilate. Review of some of Day 1. Q & A of anything up to this point. Points 6, 7, 10, the rest of 8, and a review of 9 from above list. Final Q & A.
The cost of this 2 day event is $1000. This is a great oppurnity for a person that is really interested in making there own wigs and hair pieces!!! You an email me if you are interested in receiving more information at a40cup@aol.com or alice.young@dep.state.nj.us dont wait to long...only 3 seats are remaining to fill this class!!!
