Good response sherrie! I forgot that it's true that the more you wash the oilier the hair gets.
I would add to this instead of clarifying shampoo before the extension service, use good ole' dish soap and wash it a few times with it. No conditioner after washing.
I have noticed on even non-oily hair clients that lately my pretips are shedding. I think it's because of all the silicone coatings that the manufacturers add to their hair and it interferes with the tipping process. Anyway, I have been brushing on nail glue to each tip to help with the shedding.
well 7 weeks isnt too bad. But if she would cut down a little on the washing they might stay in a few weeks longer. If she washes her hair sometimes twice a day that isnt helping the bonds to stay in. If she would quit washing so much her scalp would quit producing so much oil. Its a natural thing our body does, it will adjust itself.
I rephrased my subject heading because my previous one was a bit misleading. Anyway, I have a quesiton for all of you, I have a client who has fine oily hair/scalp. I have been doing her extensions for a while and in all the methods I clarify with a professional clarifying shampoo (Artec texturline) before I install her extensions. I have tried shrinks, bonding tapes, glue gun fusion and the most her hair extensions last are 7 weeks. At about four weeks they start to slide a bit. Despite what I tell her my client shampoos daily even twice a day sometimes. Normally I have not had a problem with my extensions, but with her I just dont know what to try next. For those of you who have had this kind of experience with one of your clients, is there a method that works the best for this type of hair? I have used rings before (not silicone lined) on other clients and they work ok, but still didnt last as long as prebonded keratin hair (i.e so cap etc). So what do you all recommend? I have to do her next install soon, should I try silicone micro rings or pretipped hair? My concern about the pretipped, is that oil causes the bonds to break down, with her oily scalp I worry they might not stay in for very long. But then I wonder if her tendency to be oily will make her hair slip out of the rings. So the more feedback I could get from all of you the better it will be.
