I definitely agree with keeping it simple. I used to throw every product I saw into my hair when I was younger. Now, I simply shampoo my scalp, deep condition EVERY time, put in styling oil and then roller set it. When I'm feeling extra lazy or just want to go wavy, I twist wet sections, pin them, then sleep on it lol.
Kellie, you can get refined coconut oil which is the pure stuff just processed slightly to get rid of the smell. Oh and also its solid at room temperature, but it liquifies in your hands or you can put the jar in like hot water so it melts.

what you say makes sense. i've been noticing alot of my hair on the brush.
Now i will be investing in Coconut oil. as a kid my mom used to put it in my hair and i used to cry because she got the pure stuff and it had a scent to it. lol! but i had beautiful hair and it wasn't dry at all.
Hind site is 20/20.

Kellie I don't use a brush on my hair, instead when its wet with conditioner i use a wide tooth comb and my fingers to detangle it. Otherwise i would have like no hair if i tried to comb and brush my hair when its dry.
I take a little bit of coconut oil from the jar (about the size of my fingertip) and spread it on the ends, and the canapy of my hair. If i feel the need i put it a little closer to my scalp. I distribute the oil with my fingers, combing it through my hair. I add more if i feel the need, you have to be careful with oil cause a little goes a long way. And i always say you can always add more but you can't take any away.

I am feeling the same way. I finally listened to the advice about keeping it simple. Last night I did a rollerset after I deep conditioned. I only used a little infusium 23, Elasta EQ design foam, and water. My hair is full of life today... I am getting rid of some products tonight

I don't know why you didn't keep it simple earlier. I guess, people hear about simple routines but they really don't believe it could work for them. When I first became natural in 2004 my routine was simple and it is still just as simple.
Lately i've been trying to keep my hair routine as simple as possible and i must say i'm loving the results. I've really only been using like 2 products continusly and my hair has never been better.
I've been Co washing with sauve mountian strawberry with a little honey and Evoo added. and oiling my hair daily with refined organic coconut oil. My hair has never felt so soft and moisturized and its been growing like a weed too! I don't fool with my hair much anymore either. I twist my hair about once every two weeks and put it up with hairsticks, ponytail holders or my fakkcare.
On occasion i do a cholestrol treatment before i wash my hair, with a little coconut oil, honey and WGO in it. then i clarify.
But i must say, Why haven't i tried keeping it simple ealier?
