Hi Tangles, I have been around, usually I just lurk but every now and then I have to join the discussion. As you know with all the methods out there and everyone having clients that love what they do, it is impossible to prove that one methos is better than another. I take pride in my work and the quality of the GL product. So to that end I offer my opinion.
I am sure everyone has a favorite methods, I also remove many other methods "shrink links" included that clients are very unhappy with and they fall in love with GL. I will not defend what GL stylist charge or how careful they are with the installation or removal processes, all I was saying is that GL is an awesome product and it is the method I perfer.
I have found that you don't necessary "get what you pay for". I have had a lot of clients come to me with GL or Cinderella method and they paid a lot of money for very unsatisfactory results. Then I do a meticulous application of shrink links or rings on them for a whole lot less money and they think I'm a genius.
I have been wearing Great Lengths in my own hair for over 5 years and installing them in my salon for the past 3 years. I know alot of people think they are over priced but I think that like most things you really get what you pay for and when you reasearch you will fine that most peple, even the ones that dont like them admit that they are an excellent product. You will not find better quality hair. I think that most damage comes from wearing them too long, improper care or a carless stylist. I have many repeat clients who absolutely love them.

And also there are diffrent names for the same methods like microrings are micro beads, dinkie links, hair locks, euro locks, proshells, and extendshells! And fusion is keartin bond, great lengths, monkey bars, socap, etc.
$600 + hair is still WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY to much money IMO.. There's lots of other methods.. ProTac with wefts, Shrinkies (shrink links), Hair Locs, Sew-in wefts, pinch braids, fusion.. My suggestion is to spend some time searching this forum for past posts to get some info..
Do your research first before you spend one dime..

Hi blondie20 and welcome to the board! Most of us who do/get strand by strand get shrinkies or microrings. Here is some info about shrinkies, and here's some about microrings. Altho I think most of us are doing weft methods now, with protac or liquid gold. You can find a salon that will do any of these methods, for much less than great lengths and when done right they do not damage your hair. Good luck, keep asking questions!

Thanks for all the opinions! She said it would take about 4 hours so at $150 per hour it would cost roughly 600 for "instillation" so how much more would the actual hair cost? What methods would you recommend?

dont do it...your hair looks like my hair use to before getting great lengths..it will crack your hair off and make your hair thin picture yourself with half the hair you have now thats what it will look like when they take them out and all different lengths..it will cost you around 1200 in canada to completely destroy your hair..and they will tell you that its the best for your hair because its a keratin bond and blah bla bull**** and how it will grow your hair dont buy it
Girl.. You betta do a search for Great Lengths on this forum.. Long checkered history of those extensions here..
My opinion?? There are PLENTY of less expensive high quality methods out there.. If you're a salon princess like me and don't want to DIY, I would look around first before I spent $900 or more PLUS the cost of the hair for extensions.. IMO, that's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too much money!!!

Hey everyone, I am new to this board and I am so thankful to have found it! I have never had extensions before but have a consultation next week for Great Lengths. I have medium length, thin hair. I am getting extensions for added length (only a few inches more) and for more thickness. My questions is...what would be a ballpark price for this? She is charging $150/hour + price of hair. How much is great length hair to buy? I am just curious so I don't have so much of the "sticker shock" when I go in. Also, would you recommend Great Lengths? Does it ruin your natural hair if you properly take care of it?
Here are some pictures of my hair currently...note that I make my hair look thinker than it really is, therefor, I will not require a whole lot of extensions...i dont think!
