Portia DeRossi you have to go back to 1999 to see it down. Unless someone got caps from the show.

There sure were a lot of updos at this year's Emmy Awards. I was disappointed that some actresses with gorgeous hair chose to have it piled on top of or behind their head. Katherine Heigl, Eva Longoria, Deborah Messing and Portia DeRossi come to mind right off the bat. Portia often has her hair that way. To help make my point...

Katherine Heigl (A beauty for sure, but more beautiful with her hair down)

Eva Longoria (This convinced me she would not be an attractive shorthaired woman) http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source/search/details_pop.aspx?iid=71727276&cdi=0

Deborah Messing (When she wears her hair down, she steals the show.) http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source/search/details_pop.aspx?iid=71726864&cdi=0

Portia DeRossi (With the cancellation of Arrested Development, I miss Portia and her flowing blonde mane.)

My best of show:

- Ellen Pompeo : I know people may slam her for wearing extensions and then just pulling it back behind her head, but I think she looked beautiful. Such a simple style, but what a lovely face.

- Mariska Hargitay : The woman has a baby and her hair gets longer, not shorter! Hooray!

- Kate Jackson : I'm not sure if it's plastic surgery or makeup, but she looked fantastic -- the best of Charlie's Angels.

- Christa Miller : A breakout night for one of my longtime favorites. I'm sorry Scrubs is rumored to be going off the air.

- Kyra Sedgwick : A glorious evening for her. Did she win an Emmy? She deserved one.

- Kim Raver : My one exception to the rule about updos. She recently got her hair cut and still looked classic.

- Elizabeth Perkins :  This may be the best she's ever looked.

- Jane Kaczmarek : I don't know if it was the dress, the makeup or the hair, but Jane looked surprisingly excellent.

- Lara Spencer : She was the best looking of all of the Hollywood reporters.

I only picked nine, not 10. That leaves me room to add someone I may have forgot.
