I have wefts that I put in with Protac. For my first removal I used conditioner and ended up ripping a lot of my own hair out in the process. For the second removal I used acetone and got them out with less hair loss, but was left with a sticky residue that pulled a lot of my own hair out while trying to remove it. Finally I used citrus remover (Amm's citrus remover, C-22) and left it on a few minutes before trying to remove the weft. Now they just slide out with no pullling. There is always a little bunch of hair in the shower when I wash after removing the wefts, but am convinced (by the continued health of my hair) that I'm just seeing the natural shedding of my own hair that was held in by the Protac.

If your stylist is pulling hair when she's removing your wefts, she isn't taking enough time to do it right. Wefts with Protac are SO easy to put in and take out. You really might consider doing it yourself so you can be sure your hair is being protected. I've been wearing mine constantly for six months and have grown my own hair out thick and healthy in the process. I don't understand why extensionists would continue to replace extensions when their client is obviously experiencing significant hair loss from wearing them.

Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE!

If the wefts were not put in properly (too tight)  or they were not removed carefully, than you certainly can lose hair from them.

Yeah, that's right too.
I think when you got used to have full hair, then you feel like it's a part of you, and when the extensions are removed, you have to get used to the natural size of your hair (or not!)

Princess,
All my installs are weft installs.  I am not sure how you had them installed, but, I install mine with Liquid Gold.  I do all my own extensions including the takedown.
For the takedown, I use Amm's Shrink** residue remover.  I spray it on and let it sit for a moment and then they slide right off.
You are going to lose some of your natural hair during the removal.  Remember, the loose strands are often your own hair that has "shed out" while you had the extensions in, it just got trapped and never fell out.
I have super thin hair as well.  When I remove my extensions I feel like I have none, lol.  I think it is just simply because with extensions you have a ton of hair, you get used to it being so thick and heavy.  With just your natural hair it feels thin and weightless.

Hi Princess,
I have tried the sew in extensions system, I don't know if this is what you're mentionning, but I remember that it was very itchy and that I had scalp problems after a while, because I guess my scalp wasn't "breathing" normally on some areas. Maybe you should try another maybe for a while and let your scalp take a rest on the fragile areas?

When removing the weft hair extensions...........it does pull a bit of natural hair out with it.............right????  My hairdresser uses an oil based remover..............there is a bit of pulling............and i have had these extensions for 16 months.  Once a month i get them removed and put back in.  I started with pretty fine hair...............now my hair is REALLY REALLY fine!!!  It is tramatic to see my hair when she takes them out!  I cant have these extensions forever................eventually i would like to take them out.  I know you dont lose alot of natural hair with the taking out process.............but over time it seems to be alot!  Can this cause balding spots as well?
