What to use to style my hair?

Well I'm getting my haircut again and I'm going for some sort of look like this:


but when my hair is washed with no gels in it, it looks like if i were to grow it out for another month it would be a bowl cut, is there a way I could get it cut so I could gel it up like that and also be able to roll out of bed and have it look somewhat like this style?


Also about the gel, I want to be able to put it in during the morning and for my hair to keep its shape somewhat until the evening without being rock hard or shine like cadilac. I was thinking of getting one of these gels (One of the bottom four)

which of them would you sugest for that? Also if you know of another gel that would work better feel free to bring it up. Thanks a bunch.
