msabinoe,

then it has to come down to how you feel about it. Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Do you like what you see? Different people are always going to have different opinions. So if the desire to add more black to your hair is really coming from you, and that is what you really want, then go for it. However, if it is coming from people's opinions on what you should do, then you need to stop and think: what do you really want? Do you like your hair the way it is? If it is eating at you that much then I say go ahead. Just tell the hair dresser you want to add more pepper to your hair. The advantage to being a guy is that your hair grows so quickly (since most guys keep it short. I'm assuming you do) that if you don't like the outcome, it will be gone by your second hair cut after you dye it.
Now, from a girls point of view, there is nothing more attractive than a man who seems secure about his look. So whichever one is going to bring that out of you, then that is what you should go for.

Maybe try it, this one time, and see what kind of effect it has, and what kind of response you get. If it doesn't make that much of a difference, then you'll know it is not worth it to keep doing it.

Whatever choice you go for I hope you look great!

Much love, Shary

My advice for anyone male of female is DON'T START COLORING OR BLEACHING YOUR HAIR!

I wish I had never started. I've spent a year just trying to get my hair back to my natural color. I can't wait until I have nothing but 'virgin' hair on my head!

Hi Shary,

Thanks for the advice, but I'm torn...I've heard from gal friends both sides...dye it/don't dye it.

I know this is not an answer to your question. But I think you should keep your hair the way it is. As long as it is thick, white hair looks very attractive on men. My father started going salt and pepper at 15. He was totally salt by the time he was about 47. He has always been a "stud" LOL. But let me tell you the whiter he got, the better he looked. He is 66 now, and you would never know it. He is still a hit with the ladies (much younger ladies might I add) everywhere he goes. So if you are just looking for a change, then go for it. But if you are worried about looking older, don't. White hair on men (unlike women) is very attractive.

Hi All,

37 yr old guy with thick salt & pepper hair that is steadily getting more silvery/white.  Probably about 65% salt right now.  I want to explore dyeing it more pepper, less salt.

What products are there out there and how shall I approach my hairdresser?  Or more appropriately, what will she most likely recommend so I know ahead of time what she's talkin about.  She's a very good friend of mine and has been cutting/styling my hair since...ohhhh...1992.

Thanks in advance!
