when I wore WaWa I used the diluted fabric softerner. But I also thought that using it too much made the hair feel heavy and well.....just gross!
I used my caruso steam roller base to steam the hair. I set it on the counter held my hair over the steam and used a big brush to brush it while the steam was flowing. Really helped to soften the hair.
I had not tried velvasil then, but everyone seems to really like the velvasil. Its for synthetic hair but I also use it on human hair too.
Diluted fabric softener is good! Although I have to say that repeatedly blowdrying the hair straight will make the hair lose it's integrity. Not so good if you want to keep any amount of body in the hair. When I wear synth hair I let it dry naturally. I know that is not an option for a lot of people but it's the best thing to do. I wear my hair in a coiled bun on top of my head when I sleep. Braiding is good, but not AS good as putting it completely away at night (bun on top). When damp, it's ok to brush or comb, never had problems with that ever. Just be careful, hold at the root and don't "rip" through it.
Bed Head "Flasher" spray is REALLY nice for synth hair too.

I'm wearing the plastikhaar & round brush the ends with the blowdryer on the counter. Also, I take a plastic bowl, boil the water in the microwave, wait a minute, dip the hair in it, then laying the ends over a towel brush it out. It gets rid of all the frizzie kinkies. Blowdrying it with the round brush after that will also really help.

Mix up some fabric conditioner in a spray bottle and use that. I also 'steam' any synthetic hair. I use the spray on it after washing and then go over it with a low heat hair iron....but then again it depends if u like it straight. Blow drying on a really low temp is an option too. u might also benefit from thinning out the end s of the hair. x
When I was wearing my plastik haar, I had to steam it straight and reset it about ever 5 days for it too look decent. That was too much work for lazy ole' me.
Last year a bunch of us went through PlastikHaar installs, and spent quite a bit of time on this topic. I'll try to remember what the main things were regarding PH care:
1) Do not comb or brush it when wet!
2) Use a fabric softener rinse on it -- human hair conditioners don't work (it's plastic. . .). Something like downy, watered down (maybe 1/4 fabric softener, 3/4 water), and just run it through your hair, then rinse.
3) Get a fabric steamer, and steam the hair from time to time. This seemed to bring back a lot of the softness
4) Absolutely DO NOT use high heat AT ALL - i.e. anything that you can't touch will fry it.
5) Velvet covered hot rollers work well (the jumbo ones) in restoring body. But once it's fried (you'll know when it is -- it becomes like a brillo pad) -- it's trashed.
6) Use a spray in conditioner like velvasil. Pro-Hair also makes one; I think it's silicon-based.
I hope this helps. . .good luck!! PlastikHaar can be really beautiful but it has to be treated differently than human hair -- because it's not hair!

I've worn monofibre hair (like PH) for years and the only thing that keeps it smooth and silky is blowing it straight with a blowdryer on medium (be careful not to get it too close or expose the hair to heat for too long - you'll melt the hair!) daily. When I did this I didn't need any conditioners or shine sprays or anything.

I've never had the Plastikhaar but I've owned a few 'falls' which were man made hair. I couldn't get those things brushed out easily either. I found that the best thing to use on my falls were wig shampoos or wig detangling spray. It TOTALLY brought my falls back to life and I'm wondering if it might work well with the Plastikhaar??? Just a thought. It's pretty cheap at Sally's I think.
Help!!!! my extensions (plastikhaar wefts) are getting really matted and knotty and even though ive only had them in a number of days they are starting to look a little ratty. I wear them in plats for sleeping and brush them gently around twice a day...whatelse can i do to fix these problems? i'm sooo used to wearing and working with human hair-this is all new to me...help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
