One I used RIT dye in tan liquid and the other was RIT dye in dark brown granules. Both were stove top method with the latter requiring salt. If experimenting, don't use the whole weft in case it doesn't turn out to the desired shade. Snip a couple inches off to test. Also, make sure there's enough dye and water to cover the hair completely. Don't leave any hanging above the fluid or you'll have a blotchy result.
When I get a few free moments I'm going to test some with Jacquard acid dye that I have. I experienced significant bleeding with that dye when I tried it on human hair, though. Even 5, 6, 7 washings later, I had enough crocking to know this would be a disaster if it were installed on someone.
Ash tones are exactly what I need. I love the blond blend I got, but it's just too golden for my skin. What recipe did you use to dye the 613? I'm a little clueless of where to start....
Yeah, that's what I thought, too. But appantly American Dreams
thermofibre can be dyed, and so can Wawa. But, you have to use clothing
dye because it's nylon fiber. Amm has a post on another elite
thermofiber thread where she died some 613 with Rit fabric dye and it
came out in varying shade of brown. But, it's just hard to control the
outcome, I guess.
Merguthrie, that's what I was thinking of doing, too. Off to buy some Rit dye....:)
This is synth hair, right? You cannot color synth hair. You might be able to stain it very (and I mean very) slightly with hair color but that's it. It isn't hair. It has no cuticle. It doesn't absorb anything.
Thanks for the encouragement:). I will keep trying, I will look into fabric dye and vegetable dye. I read that Wawa is dyable, and so I wrote to vixenwigs on ebay to ask about it. She said that it is hard to dye, but that she has heard a couple of her buyers say that non-peroxide vegetable dyes work. So, since they are both thermofiber, I might try that on this stuff. It's so beautiful, I just want it to match so bad!!!!! We'll see....:)
I used a regular hair dye, and I left it on about twice as long as they say for HH, and it all just washed right off. I had the same problem mentioned on another thread with the blond (not strawberry blond) blend being too orangey for me. I have ashy hair. So, since color match is really important to me, I tried an ash brown on it, no such luck! Just thought I'd update all of you who are looking at the thermofiber but want an exact color match--it's a no go. But, maybe fabric dye would work? I don't know! :)
