My sister`s 4 year old smeared about 1/2 jar of vaseline all over her little 10 month old baby brother. My poor sis was frantic trying to get the vaseline out. Karen recommend the cornstarch remedy. My sister didn`t have any so she substituted cornflower. It worked OK too. We also hide the vaseline container from our little budding hairstylist. :-0

Hi,

This works. I have recommended it to over 10 different people in the past 3 years and ALL have told me it works.

1. Get some cornstarch from the store.
2. Pat, not rub, as much of the vaseline onto a papertowel. Rubbing only makes it worse.
3. Sprinkle a little cornstarch onto the vaseline area and PAT carefully into the vaseline. Again, do not rub.
4. Wash hair with a good clarifying shampoo. Pour a little shampoo into the palm of your hand and then pat on to the hair BEFORE wetting it with water. This also helps cut the stuff. Then add WARM water. Not hot and hot cold. Warm.

Vain`s Peppermint Strip is great. The Peppermint cuts right through the mix. The cornstarch binds with the vaseline and helps to lift if from the hair and carry it out of the cuticle. You may need to shampoo more than once but this should work. If you don`t have Vain a good clarifying shampoo works. For some reason the peppermint in the Vain makes it really good for stuff like this. Really gunky stuff.

I have heard from many that this is a great way to get it out. The trick is to pat and not rub and to use cornstarch to bind the vaseline. I suspect that flour would work but I always recommend cornstarch because I KNOW that works.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

Best wishes,
Karen
