QuoteReplyTopic: Sulfate-free Shampoo list - FEEDBACK pls. Posted: October 15 2006 at 7:25pm
I'm using Giovanni (Direct leave in conditioner, and the 50:50 Balanced shampoo) - no sulfates or any other bad stuff. I really like the results. I'm having less shedding as well.
Also, some of the Phyto products are sulfate and chemical free. Thank you for the list!
1. Sexy Hair's Chocolate Soymilk Shampoo. Yummy smell works great.. Makes your hair soft..
2. Brocato Splaash
Daily Shampoo
Also two things regarding the footnotes on the list.. Enjoy lists the ingredients to all of it's shampoos on their site, and Alterna only has ONE shampoo in it's entire line which is sulfate free..

n-fruizon is not a good choice. The product is overpriced and is a copycat of a really good Jason product that is excellent. And it is nothing special compared to many of the other great products out there w/out SLS.
Paves Professional (Jessica Simpson's hairdresser) developed by Paves has won several "best for all natural" product nods.
N-fruizon dispenses with synthetic detergents, relying instead on essential oils from plants and herbs.
The shampoo contains no SLS (sodium laureth sulphate, a foaming detergent that can cause skin and eye irritation), which is great, but don't expect much foam. There are no bubbles.
Nor does it smell of cranberries. Nor is it pink. The conditioner was similarly low-key. My hair seemed clean but lacked that slippery sheen after a big dose of conditioner. *********************************************************
I have heard that Ulta is or already has dropped n-fruizon from their inventories at many of their stores and will probably eventually dump it, which is usually not a good sign for a product.
Also noteworthy - Hairboutique.com carries many of the brands you have listed like Jason & Lamas & Avalon, to name a few. They have never carried n-fruizon and Hairboutique.com is very picky about what they sell. So if they are not selling it, that is a big question mark in my mind.
-Robert Hallowell's Prawduct line is also completely sulfate free.
-Paves Professional is now ONLY available through HairBoutique.com since Walgreens and Target have stopped carrying it and we buy directly from the the manufacturer. -Many stores have stopped carrying Paul Penders line because of difficulties with Paul Penders. All but one of the largest US distributors have completely discontinued the line.
I use the Paves and the Hallowell products on my own hair. They are great.
We also carry California Baby which is also fantastic and Burts Bees which is nice but the product line has become oversaturated in the marketplace.

That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)
I found this WONDERFUL extensive list of sulfate-free shampoos on another site (http://www.longhaircommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34009).
I wanted to post it and get all of your feedback on this.
It took me forever to find a list and I was quite excited as I have had a terrible time finding decent shampoos w/o sulfates! :)
Please discuss if any of these products are harmful for extensions, or if any are particularly excellent.
"This is a list of alkyl-sulfate-free shampoos, which means it includes products with olefin sulfonate, a potentially drying surfactant. Conversely, it excludes products with sodium laureth sulfate(SLES), a gentle sulfate. Furthermore, natural does not equal gentle, for everyone.
This list was made without regard to any controversy over the "safety" of individual ingredients other than that some here are interested in avoiding parabens and silicones.
Where to buy products is listed under the product name.
Except where noted, each product has at least one source where an exact list of ingredients can be found. If there is no live link, check under another product. If it says: "Salons; web beauty suppliers," that means I'm concerned about the reliability of some of the online sources I found.
