Yea it looks like a wig to me too...dreadlocking is probably going to be the way to go...

Yeah, I was planning on getting dreadlocks. But I would still like to know if it is at all possible to get my hair like that.

Interesting.  Some (not all) of those photos, the hair looks weaved in or looks like a wig.
 
It is possible for you to dread your hair if that's what you want to do.

Hi, I'm mixed and I don't exactly like my hair. It's shiny and is made up of loose curls. Is there some sort of chemical or technique I can use to get my hair nappy, like these asian people did in these photos:
