No problem..my sis is like you too.. She can't can not relax her hair. Her hair in it's natural state is way too thick for her to handle. I just find ways of not having to deal with my hair really.. wash n go poof's, rollersets, braids and blow dried.
I like you but in the opposite sense. It's not to much that my hair can't grow when natural, it's more that I can't take care of my hair when it's in it's natural state. For some reason I believe my hair is better off relaxed. Thanks for responding to my question.
MY mother bids me bind my hair
With bands of rosy hue,
Tie up my sleeves with ribbons rare,
And lace my bodice blue.

No problem.. I decided not to relax anymore, because for those times I want straight hair, my hair is fine enough to be blow dried straight as a temporary style. Also I find that relaxing my hair does nothing for me, chemical relaxing is alot more damaging to my hair shaft than blow drying. With heat, there are alot more variables you can control and healthy practices you can do to reduce the damage to your hair. With a relaxer in, my hair hardly grew and I rarely ever had healthy ends. I'ved life both ways, and I found that having my natural hair works for me. My hair isn't bone straight all the time and is very versatile. I can play around with different styles or just wear my natural texture (which I love) also it stays healthier this way.
My question to you is why go natural to ensure healthy hair if your going to just straighten it through another damaging process? Please dont think me rude I just really want to know. As for your question you can try wrapping your hair at night, the split wrap method is the best and also you can try curly styles if all else fails.
I keep my flat ironed hair straight for two weeks by keeping it tied up at night. If I want it bone straight I will put it in two ponytails with bands going down the length. This keeps it very straight. If I want some bend to it I put it in a ponytail and one big pin curl in the back, covered w/ a satin scarf.

There isnt really anyway to do that. As long as you are careful with heat appliances you wont damage your hair. As a general rule if u blow dry, test the drier on ur skin and if it feels to hot for ur skin after a few seconds, then its to hot for ur hair.
Blow dry your hair with a barrel brush or invest in some straightners, they have some really great ones out now.
Like i said, as long as ur careful u wont damage your hair, the dark and lovely products are great for moisturising too

Wow! It's been awhile...After two long years of wearing braids all of my relaxed hair has grown out and I am fully au natrel again.. (yay!) I want to blow dry and flat iron my hair straight and got it done last Thursday at a salon...let me tell you how happy I was when my once uneven ear length hair had finally grown out healthy and even.. and the best part is that it is shoulder length!
Im trying to keep my hair healthy this time which means no more chemicals..I was planning to blow and straighten at the salon twice a month. My question is: does anyone have any tips for keeping blow dried hair looking just blowdried longer without using any excess heat during the two weeks I don't go to the salon? Any help would be appreaciated.
