Yeah, I agree with everyone, as far as them not staying in well, I really think it's just doing everything right in the begining.

I wash super good, get it literally squeeky clean, then install in dry hair, really pressing them in, and wait 48 plus hours.

After that, it's pretty good, I've been able to even put conditioner around the area (as long as I don't let it sit or pull on the extensions in the meanwhile) and they don't fall out! It's all about getting them set in there good, imo.

It takes a little practice, but it's easy once you know what works and what doesn't!

Edit to say: I take them out for colorings, because after coloring I like to do a protein treatment, and there's no way they will stay in through that! So I take down, color, wait a few days, then re-install.

Since you have to deep clean hair before protac install, I hate the thought of doing that right after coloring...

Unlike Longhairdreams, I prefer protac over LG, but sometimes one works better than the other depending on the person!Smile Sherrie uses LG for her top wefts because it shows less, and it really does show less.

I think Protac is very easy. I take mine down about every 3-4 weeks, but that's not because i need it, it's because i want to tweak my install. I lighten my hair very slightly, and I only redo the whole color every couple months, but I touch up the roots on the top of my head (where there are no extensions) about every 3 weeks while I have my extensions in. I just keep the color away from the protac. That has been good for the rest of my hair, for sure.

Protacs aren't that sensitive. I have had them fall out from using Neutrogena Triple Moisture. And, I had them fall out from not waiting 48plus hours after the install to wash my hair again. But now I just use pureology products and occassionally I use clarifying shampoo, and I've had no problems. You basically just don't want anything super moisturing on the protacs themselves. BUt, that's not too hard to avoid.

If I were you, I'd go for it! It's cheap, it's easy, and if you mess up your first time, it's easy to redo. Also, it causes very minimal damage! Good luck!Wink

SmileYeah i just watched the video for tressallure x.It  uses tape just like protac. It looked like they used seamless wefts in the video. But really you can use whatever kind of wefted hair you want.I prefer handtied myself.

Protac is super easy for DIY.They go in easy and come out easy. All i used to take mine out was orange oil.and they slipped right out. Some people had problems with them not staying in.I wasnt impressed with the hold.I had better luck with Liquid gold. But they are not even close to being as messy as LG.Every method is sensitive to anything thats meant to moisturize. The key is just to keep conditioners and the like away from the strips. Also avoid moisturizing shampoo.I read that it caused early slipping in some. You really just want to keep the tapes dry with as little moisture as possible.

And as far as color goes, you could take the strips out color and reinstall all in the same day if you wanted.Good luck.Smile

Hi Cashi!
Welcome here!
I don't know the Tressalure method but I have been wearing Protac for 2-3 months after years of wearing fusion.
I love this method, I lighten my natural hair a little bit, nothing radical like color, I only use lightening sprays and do highlights. I can do both with Protac on, but I know that girls who do colors take out their install every 4-5 weeks.
Good luck with whatever you pick!Wink

I have GLs in now and love them! But I hate the expense and the damage they are doing to my naturally fine hair. So now Im thinking of doing protac myself. I wore clip-ins for over a year and was very successful but went to GL's because I wanted something more permanent.

So is the protac method the same as the Tressalure X? In your opinion do you think I should have the Tressalure method professionally installed first and then continue the method myself? And for those of you who wear protac and color your hair (i'm brunette) how often do you need to takeout and retinstall?
Last question (Tongue!) Are the protacs and Tressalure X really as sensitive to hair products as I have heard??
Thanks again for all your help!!!
